JoJo Siwa Reveals Moment She Wanted Romance With Chris Hughes

JoJo Siwa is embracing the unexpected.

A few days following the announcement of her relationship with Chris Hughes, a contestant on Celebrity Big Brother U.K., she expressed her delight over their lucky love affair.

On the Rosebud podcast, which aired on June 5, JoJo expressed, “It’s such a stunning trip,” she said. “I can’t comprehend how the cosmos managed to bring Chris into my path.

She mentioned that “serendipity” has become their favorite term, explaining that if you look up its meaning, it’s about discovering something delightful, such as love, unexpectedly and when you aren’t actively searching for it.

Initially, the 22-year-old entered the “Big Brother” residence without having extensive knowledge about the former contestant of “Love Island”, who is 32 years old. Additionally, it’s worth mentioning that she was in a relationship with Kath Ebbs at the time.

She remembered, “The initial impression I got of him was that he was a warm embracer.” She found his hugs comforting and pleasant, and he had a pleasing scent. Her response was, “Alright, that’s great.

Instantly, they formed a bond.

JoJo remarked, “We’d often share laughter during tough times. If one of us felt low, it was always the other who offered support.

During their three-week home confinement, JoJo and Chris didn’t hesitate to embrace, snuggle, and exchange sweet cheek kisses.

Upon stepping out of their comfort zone, she discovered the source of her unhappiness – it was indeed a certain someone.

She went on saying, ‘I’m brimming with joy at the moment, it seems to overflow from me.’ In fact, just yesterday, she found herself rubbing her cheeks because she had never felt such discomfort from all the smiling before.

17-year-old JoJo Siwa found August 1, 2020, to be an ideal day for unveiling the identity of her boyfriend. This special someone had successfully outshone her admiration for Patrick Dempsey from Grey’s Anatomy and Zac Efron.

In her interview on The Tonight Show, Siwa shared, “‘I felt like I wanted to share this photo on my Reels story,’ she said, and her friend was incredibly supportive. Her response was, ‘Go for it!’, to which Siwa agreed, ‘Alright’, and followed through with her plan.

2024 finds me still reeling from the breakup of my beloved duo, a reality I couldn’t have foreseen back when they moved in together, a move that left many of us fans shaking our heads in disbelief (“That should’ve never happened,” I echoed their sentiments on the Call Her Daddy podcast). However, the heartache was temporary as they parted ways in October of the same year, only to grace us with one last magical dance in 2022.

In her TikTok video that month, she expressed, “I won’t be silent anymore. You have immense influence, as well as your social media platform. It’s confusing to me how you can profess love one day and disappear the next, only to accuse us of chasing trends and showering affection indiscriminately online. I don’t understand this behavior.

Furthermore, it was Siwa who first revealed their relationship publicly, whereas Mills sought approval before sharing any hints about their romance. Moreover, Mills emphasized, “I have the text messages as proof, so back off.

It can be inferred that Avery Cyrus, who was briefly romantically linked with Siwa in 2022, has not yet reached the pinnacle of her career.

During their 12-day anniversary, the singer expressed that living together was like a beautiful dream, stating that their personalities complement each other beautifully and this aspect is crucial to them. However, the atmosphere shifted dramatically in December. Just two days after Cyrus announced their breakup, Siwa subtly accused someone of exploiting her celebrity status.

In a video posted on her mother’s Instagram Story in December 2022, she expressed frustration by saying, “I ended up being used for likes and influence,” implying that she had been deceived. She further stated, “I thought I was loved, but it turned out to be just manipulation.

For Cyrus, though, their dalliance wasn’t a game. 

According to her exclusive statement to TopMob News, she maintains that her friendship with JoJo remains strong, and they parted ways amicably. She emphasized that their relationship was genuine, and she holds only affection towards JoJo and her loved ones.

Dakayla Wilson might have finished second on season 18 of ‘So You Think You Can Dance’, but she was undeniably first in judge Siwa’s affection. In a TikTok posted on April 2025, Ebbs explained that he was informed of mixed emotions and went ahead to make his own interpretations. Additionally, he stated that he discovered in the house that they no longer wished to share the upcoming time with him.

However, Siwa maintained that this was not a common replacement scenario for everyone, even though she shared a strong bond with fellow housemate Chris Hughes.

During filming, Siwa shared that she found herself alone with her thoughts, separated from friends, external opinions, and everything else. On ITV’s This Morning, alongside Hughes, she expressed, “I sat with myself and it was then that I truly understood aspects of my life that I should never have accepted as acceptable in the first place.

Despite not winning the top spot during her time on Celebrity Big Brother UK in the year 2025, Siwa found a more valuable reward from her experience filming the show: A new companion in her fellow contestant Chris Hughes.

And, yet, she kept reiterating, they were just friends. Until they weren’t. 

Siwa confessed to The Guardian in an interview from June 2025 that things between us have moved beyond platonic, and it’s been a wonderful evolution of our relationship. It’s a beautiful connection, and I am completely smitten by him, and he feels the same way.

Regarding her self-identification of sexuality, she finds that the term “queer” is most fitting for her as it captures her identity. However, she prefers to focus on the individual rather than the label in matters of love.

Siwa pointed out that there are many unique expressions of sexual identity. To her, there’s no greater beauty than someone taking the time to understand and embrace who they truly are.
