It’s been officially announced that Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 will be available not just on PC platforms like Steam, Battle.net, and Microsoft Store, or on previous-gen consoles such as PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S, but also on the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2! Previously, it was thought that players on the new console could play the Switch version through backwards compatibility, but it seems that’s not the case anymore.
In addition to other gaming platforms, the games Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 are now also open for pre-order on the Nintendo eShop for the upcoming Switch 2. The game has been available for pre-orders on digital storefronts of other platforms for quite a while.
The release date for “Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4”, which was simultaneously unveiled, is set for June 11th. As suggested by its title, this edition will encompass remakes of both “Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3” and “4”. In addition to the original skateboarders and maps making a comeback, the game will also introduce contemporary skateboarders, among them Magielyn Didal, who was officially revealed as part of the game through a trailer in March.
Alongside confirming Didal’s appearance, the trailer unveiled our initial glimpses at the redesigns for the Suburbia level from THPS 3 and the Kona level from THPS 4. However, only a few details about the stages were disclosed, but what was shown suggests that both redesigns will closely resemble their original looks.
A trailer unveiled in May revealed that Bam Margera will be among the hidden playable skaters within the game, who can be unlocked progressively. This news was shared via a video featuring Margera expressing his enthusiasm for revisiting the old Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater series. Regarding THPS 2, Margera admitted that he enjoyed himself so much, he even missed some flights!
In the end, having missed a total of six flights, he exclaimed that it was time to step back due to the sheer enjoyment he was deriving from the game.
He stated that in many sports, the game essentially involves hitting a ball back and forth until one player misses. However, he emphasized that this game offers a multitude of possibilities such as grinding on houses, poles, or handrails. The appeal of this game is universal, from grandparents to young children, because there are endless ways to enjoy it.
I think I’ll need to resume playing video games since this one promises to be quite rewarding. If I begin to miss flights once more, I know exactly what adjustments to make.
Tony Hawk has expressed his desire to revive some of the classic skateboarding video games he’s associated with, particularly the narrative-driven “Tony Hawk’s Underground”. In an interview held in May, he shared his intentions, stating, “I always have aspirations. However, it’s not usually within my control. I’ll do my best to advocate for it, but I’m working with a much larger and smarter company than me.
Tony Hawk’s Underground was originally released on PS2, GameCube and Xbox back in 2003.
