John Cena Surprises WWE SmackDown Crowd with Response to R-Truth Chants

Over the last several SmackDown episodes, there’s been a growing anticipation for a Tag Team battle among four prominent WWE personalities. However, the audience at both Raw and SmackDown have been vocal about wanting someone else – R-Truth. Ever since it was announced that WWE wouldn’t be renewing his contract, fans have been chanting for him on various shows. Tonight, those chants echoed throughout the show, but nobody expected John Cena to react to them, especially not in the unexpected manner he did, which you can see in the video above.

Towards the end of the show, Cody Rhodes, Jey Uso, John Cena, and Logan Paul were in action together. In this confrontation, it was Cena and Paul who emerged victorious over Rhodes and Uso. Cena delivered an Attitude Adjustment to Rhodes, while Paul tossed Uso back into the ring. This is when the crowd started shouting for R-Truth again. Despite trying to get up, Uso was knocked down by a punch from Paul, causing the crowd’s chants to persist.

Subsequently, Cena grabbed a microphone and retorted with “You can’t handle the truth”, causing a massive response from Paul. The crowd reverted to “Truth” chants, prompting Cena to smirk before delivering another harsh speech, ultimately concluding his last appearance in Bakersfield with this finale.

This is the reason you’re not successful. I want to make sure you remember this, because it’s my final visit to Bakersfield. Keep these words in mind. History is written by the victorious. Allow me to introduce myself – your future contender and the last genuine champion.” (Cena said)

This version maintains the original message while using simpler language and a more polite tone.

Uso and Rhodes remained down without getting back up, and no one emerged to make the rescue attempt either. Cena emphasized that this is what fans of the WWE can expect when he departs with the Championship. Now, he has chosen to identify Paul as the potential future of the WWE following his departure.

At Saturday Night’s Main Event, Cena retained his Championship by resorting to trickery with the Title yet again, securing the win. However, the following week, R-Truth (whose real name is Ron Killings) announced on social media that he had been let go from WWE. This announcement left fans and the locker room stunned, prompting many to express their surprise, support, and admiration for Killings and his time with WWE on social media platforms.

I’m sorry to say this, but I’ve just been let go by the WWE. I want to express my gratitude to the WWE for the journey, but more importantly, I want to thank each and every one of you who have joined me on this ride. Thank you for all the love, support, and appreciation you’ve shown me over the years. Thank you.

It came to light later that his contract hadn’t been extended, which seems to be a trend WWE has been adopting more frequently lately. Apart from Killings, several other talents who have been let go in recent months include Katana Chance, Kayden Carter, Braun Strowman, Shotzi, Cora Jade, Dakota Kai, Carlito, Gigi Dolin, Eddy Thorpe, Shayna Baszler, Sarah Logan, and Sonya Deville. Fans have expressed their disapproval of this move, and it’s unclear where he will go next. However, any organization would benefit from having him on board, both behind the scenes and in front of the camera.
