Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds Features Over 23 Characters, 70+ Gadgets

One of the notable games showcased at Summer Game Fest was “Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds”, the latest addition to Sonic Team’s kart racing series. Characters such as Hatsune Miku, Ichiban Kasuga, Joker, Minecraft Steve, and others were prominently featured, but what about the complete list of characters?

On the PlayStation Blog, Sega has revealed fresh gameplay insights about their upcoming title, and they’ve confirmed that over twenty-three different characters can be controlled as racers. However, this number is expected to expand after the launch, with additional racers joining from various other Sega games and even popular game franchises that might come as a surprise!

In addition, the creative head of Sonic Team, Takashi Iizuka, discussed the game’s tracks and incorporating famous locations such as Metal Harbor from “Sonic Adventure 2” in a fresh perspective. As we have created numerous new tracks for “Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds”, we are also aware that fans enjoy racing on tracks reminiscent of memorable locations from Sonic’s past history.

Apart from introducing fresh locales, we’ve also crafted tracks inspired by themes from earlier games to create new ones reminiscent of beloved spots. I, in particular, am thrilled about the track modeled after Metal Harbor as I contributed to Sonic Adventure 2. The team has truly outdone themselves in recreating Metal Harbor with striking realism, a feat that was beyond our reach when the initial stage was first designed.

Not only does Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds pack a punch, but it’s brimming with over 70 tools known as Gadgets. Some of these gadgets will turbocharge your speed, while others let you hold extra items. You’ll also have the chance to personalize your vehicles using various parts and abilities, including the returning Extreme Gear.

On September 25th, Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds will be released for play on Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, PC, and Nintendo Switch systems.
