At San Diego Comic-Con this year, it appears that DC Studios will not feature one of their high-profile upcoming projects in their Hall H panel. As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, the movie “Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow” will not be showcased during the convention. Furthermore, there are currently no plans for a “Superman” panel at Comic-Con. Instead, DC is heavily promoting “Peacemaker” Season 2, which is set to premiere in August. The publication indicates that this series is expected to make a significant impact at the event, possibly even securing a spot on the Hall H panel.
The reason for Supergirl’s absence hasn’t been explained yet, but The Hollywood Reporter points out there’s still plenty of time before its planned release in June 2026. They hint at the possibility of a panel for Supergirl at this year’s New York Comic Con, although no official confirmation has been made on that topic so far.
Under the guidance of director Craig Gillespie, the upcoming movie titled “Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow” marks the second installment in the DC Universe franchise. The main character, Kara Zor-El, portrayed by Milly Alcock, is set to make her first appearance this summer in “Superman“, before starring in her own film. Alongside Alcock, Jason Momoa takes on the role of Lobo, promising a faithful comic book adaptation of the character. In late May, it was confirmed by Milly Alcock that production for “Supergirl” has been completed.
Though an official DC Studios Hall H panel announcement is still pending, Gunn and Peacemaker star John Cena hinted that one is on the horizon. They’ve suggested that fans can anticipate viewing the fresh opening credits dance sequence during Comic-Con, which showcases the entertaining scene of Eagly attempting to dance.
The movie titled “Superman” will arrive at cinemas two weeks prior to Comic-Con, meaning it’s unlikely to be a main topic during panels, although DC could have followed suit with last year’s combined “Deadpool & Wolverine” panel, which took place post-release. Fans of Superman might feel disappointed by the absence, as there seems to be sufficient footage for a teaser trailer or preview reel to offer a glimpse into what’s coming next summer. If “Supergirl” sticks to its release date, this Comic-Con would have been an ideal time for it to make an appearance, and some might view this as a missed chance to generate anticipation for the upcoming film lineup.
This year’s Comic-Con might have provided a great opportunity for DC Studios to shine, given Marvel Studios’ absence from Hall H. However, their approach is well thought out. The second season of ‘Peacemaker’ will debut around the same time as Comic-Con, making it an ideal moment to intensify promotion for the show. Moreover, there’s no rush to promote ‘Supergirl’, as there’s ample time to build anticipation over the next year. It would be exciting to showcase some footage, but it’s not necessary at this stage. Maybe New York Comic Con, held after both ‘Superman’ and ‘Peacemaker’ Season 2 have been released, could serve as a platform for introducing ‘Supergirl’.
