It came as somewhat unexpected during the Money in the Bank premium live event by WWE, as the main event wasn’t either the Women’s or Men’s Money in the Bank matches. Instead, it turned out to be a Tag Team match without titles, featuring John Cena and Logan Paul versus Cody Rhodes and Jey Uso. Though this was quite significant given the caliber of the participants, it sparked some confusion. However, the rationale behind this match has now become clear: Towards the end of the game, WWE reinstated a superstar who had recently been let go, eliciting cheers from the crowd, and that superstar was none other than R-Truth.
Indeed, it appears R-Truth has returned to WWE, barely two weeks following the announcement that his contract wouldn’t be renewed. The outpouring of affection for R-Truth and astonishment at his departure was immense, and starting from the next episode of Monday Night Raw, the audience began repeatedly chanting “Give us Truth” throughout the broadcast. This sentiment was echoed on NXT and SmackDown, and there were even chants in TNA.
Additionally, R-Truth’s fellow stars showed immense backing, and this trend persisted throughout the week as subtle acknowledgements of Truth were displayed on social media, television, or in their attire. This collective show of respect culminated tonight, where a masked individual suddenly joined the match and knocked out Cena.
In the course of the game, Jey struggled to make a tag for some time, but seized his chance when Cena and Paul began squabbling and irritating each other. Jey then tagged in Cody, leading to a significant comeback. However, eventually it was Cena who held the Championship, managing to knock out Rhodes. It seemed as though Cena would win through underhanded means once more, but that’s when an enigmatic figure suddenly appeared and sprinted towards Cena, striking him repeatedly before rendering him unconscious with his own Championship.
Last night, when the individual rose from their seat and removed the mask, it turned out to be R-Truth. The excitement in the crowd was immense, so much so that describing the roof blowing off would have been an understatement. After exiting the ring, R-Truth quickly made his way out of the arena, allowing Rhodes to pin Cena and secure the victory. It seems like R-Truth might have been hinting at this on the previous SmackDown episode by responding to the “We want Truth” cheers, but it’s unclear if that was a planned move or an unexpected twist.
R-Truth is back in the WWE, and that’s a moment worth celebrating!
