In the upcoming sequel to Disney+’s “WandaVision,” titled “Vision Quest,” Marvel Studios will introduce a villain for Paul Bettany’s character, Vision. This synthetic superhero has been a significant figure in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) since his debut in “Avengers: Age of Ultron” more than 10 years ago. Despite playing important roles, Vision hasn’t had a villain specifically tailored for him. Even in “WandaVision,” where he shared the lead role, the main conflicts revolved around Elizabeth Olsen’s Wanda Maximoff, Kathryn Hahn’s Agatha Harkness, and SWORD, rather than involving Vision directly.

In 2026, Bettany will embark on a solo adventure as Vision in Disney+’s series titled “Vision Quest“, which features a cast and voice actors reminiscent of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s past. Notably, James Spader will reappear as Ultron, who was a significant adversary for Vision, although he is primarily known as an antagonist to the Avengers.

As per a post on Patreon by Daniel Richtman, actor Todd Stashwick is set to portray Paladin in Star Trek: Picard. This character, originating from Marvel Comics, was initially an adversary to Daredevil. Notably, this will be the first time a villain specifically targets Paul Bettany’s Vision within the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), rather than the Avengers as a collective.

Back in September 2024, I found myself stepping into the world of WandaVision’s sequel, where I took on a significant part – that of a secretive assassin named Paladin. My character is on a mission to track down Vision and his groundbreaking technology.

The real identity and backstory of the Paladin character remain a mystery, but he is known as Paul Denning during his tenure as a hired gun and detective, regularly clashing with superpowered individuals.

He possesses typical characteristics of a Super Soldier, such as increased strength, speed, endurance, agility, toughness, and so forth. He is also proficient in marksmanship and combat, utilizing a variety of sophisticated weapons and technologies.

In the movie titled “Vision Quest,” stars Stashwick and Bettany are accompanied by James Spader, T’nia Miller, Faran Tahir, Ruaridh Mollica, with rumors suggesting Emily Hampshire and Kelly Condon portray the human manifestations of their respective Stark AIs.

In the upcoming series on Disney+ in 2026 titled Vision Quest, we may encounter familiar characters and storylines that seem puzzling, suggesting a complex plot line. This could potentially serve as an engaging continuation following WandaVison and Agatha All Along.

How Vision Quest’s Multiple Confirmed Villains Fit Together

In the movie “Vision Quest,” James Spader returns to the Marvel Cinematic Universe after a prolonged break, taking on the role of Ultron once more. Alongside him, T’nia Miller will portray Jocasta, Ultron’s bride in the Marvel Comics. Interestingly, Jocasta, who is a robot in the comics, eventually goes against her husband, Ultron, in the storyline.

As a movie critic, I am excited to share that Faran Tahir, best known for his role as Iron Man’s villain, will reprise his character Raza in the upcoming Disney+ series, Vision Quest. This casting decision has left many fans puzzled, given that Raza hasn’t been seen since 17 years ago and was believed to be deceased. However, a plausible theory might provide some clarity on how these seemingly disjointed elements align.

Fans understand that the story of “Vision Quest” has the Avenger embarking on a journey to reclaim his memories and humanity, following his resurrection by SWORD. This journey might involve a digital battle where Vision clashes with Ultron, and could potentially receive assistance from some helpful Iron Man interfaces who will also be making their return.

In the meantime, Vision grapples with personal conflicts, but in the actual world, Todd Stashwick’s character, Paladin, will pursue him. It’s clear that Paladin, being a mercenary, has been employed by someone to acquire Vision’s technology. A plausible suspect for this could be Raza and his group, the Ten Rings, who are familiar from Iron Man.

Exploring a narrative where Vision confronts virtual adversaries alongside real-world perils might justly transform Vision Quest into an enticing follow-up to WandaVision. In that show, Wanda Maximoff was consistently challenged by menaces originating from SWORD beyond the Hex, while Agatha Harkness posed a threat from within.
