Inside CeeLo Green’s Surprise 50th Birthday Celebration

CeeLo Green will remember when he finally attended his prom—at age 50.

In fact, the former contestant of “The Voice” marked the occasion at a hidden birthday bash held on May 30th in Flourish Atlanta, reminiscent of his missed high school prom and graduation, as it featured elements of both events.

At a recent event, the well-known singer who earned his GED following his departure from Benjamin E. Mays High School in 1993, was honored with an official certificate of recognition from Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens and an honorary diploma bestowed by the Atlanta Board of Education.

In the year 2025, Erika Mitchell expressed on Instagram that we are recognizing his path, achievements, and impact on the arts and our community by inducting him as a member of the Class of 2025.

The event, organized by Primary Wave Music, included a strawberry shortcake birthday cake, performances from the marching band of his former school, along with artists like Adi Oasis, Morris Day and the Time, JT Money, and the main attraction himself.

Larry Mestel, CEO and Founder of Primary Wave, stated that CeeLo is not only one of the remarkable lyricists in our era but also possesses an instantly recognizable voice in music. Throughout his impressive career, CeeLo has demonstrated a genius for transcending musical genres, almost defying gravity. On this special occasion of his 50th birthday, Primary Wave extends warm wishes to him.

CeeLo also celebrated his many milestone achievements on social media.

He wrote on Instagram, May 30th: “Can you drive me to location number 50? I’m going to meet some friends there. Please leave the car running for me… It’s someone’s birthday! #HappyBirthday
