As an ardent Marvel fan, I’m thrilled to share that an intriguing theory has emerged online, shedding light on the enigma from Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, particularly in relation to Paul Bettany’s Vision in his upcoming “Vision Quest” series. Last we saw Vision, he was sporting a new white outfit soaring away from Westview during “WandaVision”. His next appearance is slated for 2026’s “Vision Quest”. Although several characters from the spinoff have been confirmed, including potential villains, this theory proposes an exciting twist: Vision might be confronting a familiar adversary once more.
It’s been hinted that the upcoming series Vision Quest could revisit the fictional city of Madripoor, a place we got a glimpse of in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. This is because Sharon Carter, a character from that show who went into hiding, was said to hail from Madripoor. Fans on Instagram have proposed a theory that the Power Broker, a character associated with Madripoor, might make a return in Vision Quest. Since Sharon Carter is known for her interest in acquiring classified information and advanced technology to sell, it’s not hard to imagine Vision as one of her targets.
In the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), Sharon Carter made her debut in “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” as a SHIELD agent assigned to monitor Steve Rogers (Chris Evans). She played a significant role in “Captain America: Civil War” as a CIA operative hunting down Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan), but her actions siding with Rogers and Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) led to her being labeled a fugitive. This forced her into a life of high-end criminal activity, eventually becoming the Power Broker during Phase 4. However, her transformation into a villain, despite receiving a pardon, stirred up much debate. The upcoming movie “Vision Quest” could provide context for this character development.
In the MCU, Vision might be considered the most potent sentient weapon ever crafted, given his unique ability to enter the Scarlet Witch’s Hex and confront fabricated versions of himself following SWORD’s disassembly, memory corruption, and reassembly. This distinctive trait could make him a significant target for Sharon Carter, operating as the Power Broker, potentially making her an intriguing adversary in the Vision Quest series. Four years after The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, it would be captivating to explore this mystery, even though other formidable villains may have already been announced for future storylines.
In the upcoming series Vision Quest, we can expect the formidable foe Ultron, the ruthless artificial intelligence introduced in 2015’s Avengers: Age of Ultron, to make a comeback. James Spader reprises his role as the robotic antagonist, with supporting characters such as Jocasta (T’Nia Miller), Todd Stashwick’s assassin, and Iron Man’s Raza (Faran Tahir), a member of the Ten Rings, also joining the cast. Although it might be challenging for Emily VanCamp to reappear as Sharon Carter, it would be thrilling to delve deeper into the storyline of the Power Broker in the MCU, providing more depth, clarity, and perhaps a path towards redemption.
