Resident Evil Requiem Will Focus on Leon Kennedy and Grace Ashcroft – Rumour

Following the confirmation of the next mainline “Resident Evil” game, “Resident Evil Requiem,” after much speculation, more whispers are circulating about this upcoming horror title. Known Resident Evil insider AestheticGamer has shared a post on social media platform X suggesting that Leon Kennedy could potentially be the protagonist for “Resident Evil Requiem.

Based on information from AestheticGamer, although Kennedy wasn’t visible in the trailer, he is thought to have been included somewhere within it. The leaker further mentioned that Resident Evil Requiem will offer two playable characters: Leon Kennedy and Grace Ashcroft. At this point, Capcom has yet to confirm this detail, but whispers suggest that we might learn more about the game’s protagonists as the promotional period unfolds.

In his statement before his trailer malfunctioned, AestheticGamer mentioned that Leon is the central character in “RE9 Requiem.” Although Leon appears briefly in the trailer, the full game will offer a greater playthrough experience with Leon rather than Grace. As more marketing materials are released, Leon’s role becomes increasingly apparent in the final game.

The brief teaser trailer for “Resident Evil Requiem,” released by Capcom, is rather enigmatic. In truth, without any prior knowledge, it might be challenging to identify it as a Resident Evil game until about halfway through the clip. This is due to a couple of reasons: firstly, the game appears to unfold beyond the timeline of previous installments; secondly, the subtle hints towards past Resident Evil games are somewhat obscure.

One clear sign that the trailer for Requiem was for a new Resident Evil game, other than the depiction of a rundown Raccoon City Police Department, was the naming of one character as Grace Ashcroft. Although Grace is a fresh character, she appears to be the daughter of Alyssa Ashcroft, a playable character from cooperative games such as Resident Evil: Outbreak and Outbreak File #2, which were popular on PS2.

In the aftermath of Raccoon City’s devastation due to the zombie pandemic, Alyssa managed to endure and persisted with her investigation into Umbrella Corporation’s underhanded activities. She went so far as to pen an exposé on the subject. The last trace of Alyssa was in Resident Evil 7, where a news article bearing her byline could be found, detailing strange disappearances occurring in Dulvey Parish, Louisiana.

Eventually, Alyssa’s grim fate was discovered – she had been murdered while investigating the Wrenwood Hotel. The precise timing of this event remains uncertain at present, but it could prove significant for the storyline of Resident Evil Requiem, as Alyssa’s daughter Grace is somehow connected to the plot.

The game titled “Resident Evil Requiem” is set to launch on February 27, 2026. At present, it’s being crafted for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. Excitingly, Capcom has announced that a playable version of the game will be showcased at Gamescom in August. Until then, get a sneak peek into its “realistic facial expressions” and “realistic sweat effects”.
