Actor Pedro Pascal, who stars in “The Fantastic Four: First Steps,” shows his backing for James Gunn’s upcoming “Superman” film by sharing a fan-made crossover artwork on Instagram. The image, created by artist @JustRalphyyy, features David Corenswet’s Superman and Pascal’s character Reed Richards sitting side by side, gazing towards the horizon. In the sky above them, the logos of both Superman and Fantastic Four are blended together, hinting at the upcoming releases of both superhero blockbusters this summer. Pascal is eagerly anticipating the theatrical premieres of both films next month, referring to their upcoming screenings as “superfantastic.
On Instagram, you’ll find that Pascal’s post includes a piece of John Murphy’s music from Superman. Here’s a snapshot of it, kindly provided by DC Film News on their platform X.

Two weeks after “Superman” hits theaters in July, we’ll see “The Fantastic Four: First Steps.” Both movies are pivotal for their respective franchises. In “First Steps,” a fresh group of characters is introduced who will significantly impact the rest of Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Multiverse Saga. The actors reprise their roles in upcoming films like “Avengers: Doomsday” and “Avengers: Secret Wars.” “Superman” marks the initial theatrical release for the new DC Universe, with the aim of launching a new epoch for DC Comics adaptations under the guidance of co-heads James Gunn and Peter Safran from DC Studios.
Pascal’s message came not long after Gunn publicly endorsed the Fantastic Four. In response to a fan on social media, the director of Superman, trying to dismiss any idea of box office competition between these two blockbusters, stated, “I hold my Marvel friends in high regard.” He emphasized his intention to “concentrate on all the good vibes” surrounding both movies, as he felt there’s ample space for both.
Discussing Marvel versus DC can be an enjoyable debate for fans, but the individuals responsible for creating the films view things quite differently. People like Pascal, Gunn, and others don’t consider each other as adversaries to conquer. Instead, they perceive any comic book adaptation as a tribute to what makes superhero tales captivating and iconic. A healthy dose of competition can be beneficial, especially in industries like film. By producing successful movies, Marvel and DC motivate one another to strive for excellence, offering audiences a wide array of blockbuster hits that continuously evolve the genre with innovative twists and turns.
Fingers crossed that Gunn’s forecast becomes a reality, with both ‘Superman’ and ‘The Fantastic Four: First Steps’ enjoying extended, profitable cinema releases this summer. The latter seems particularly promising, as it quickly broke ticket pre-sale records shortly after they became available. Warner Bros. is currently ramping up marketing efforts for ‘Superman’, aiming to generate excitement ahead of its release next month. Given Gunn’s successful track record with comic book adaptations, there’s little reason to question that ‘Superman’ will also be a hit when it premieres. Perhaps this year, ‘The Fantastic Four: First Steps’ and ‘Superman’ could both make a splash, akin to ‘Barbenheimer’ taking the multiplex by storm.
