Wonder Man: Release Date, Cast & Biggest Secrets

Among the Marvel series scheduled to premiere soon, Wonder Man appears to be the most enigmatic character currently, as we’ve caught just a fleeting glimpse of Yahya Abdul-Mateen II’s introduction to the MCU in a recently released teaser trailer.

In this eight-episode show, we’ll meet Simon Williams, played by Abdul-Mateen II, who is striving to establish himself as a prominent actor within the glamorous world of Hollywood. By his side, and often in unfortunate circumstances, is Trevor Slattery, portrayed by Ben Kingsley.

As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, the show was initially conceived as a standalone production, yet there’s a chance it might transition into a long-running series if it manages to gain popularity on Disney+ by the end of the year.

As a dedicated fan, I can’t help but feel excited and optimistic about this upcoming project, knowing that Kevin Feige and Brad Winderbaum have consistently spoken highly of it. What makes this even more intriguing is the fact that it’s being co-created by Destin Daniel Cretton, who has already demonstrated his exceptional talent in directing projects like Shang-Chi and Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

If you’re intrigued, here’s everything we know so far about Marvel’s Wonder Man on Disney+.

Marvel’s Wonder Man release window

In December 2025, it’s expected that the debut of Marvel’s Wonder Man will take place on Disney+; however, an exact launch date has not been announced as of now.

Over the past two holidays, it’s become a tradition for Marvel’s What If…? to release an episode daily during Christmas, providing a delightful yuletide surprise for fans of their comics.

One possibility is that Wonder Man might step into the gap created by What If…? in 2021, although usually, Marvel Television prefers to distribute its live-action series over an extended period.

As a supporter, I’m eagerly waiting for updates regarding the release details of Wonder Man’s premiere. Once more specifics about the launch date and schedule surface, I’ll make sure to share that information with everyone here. Stay tuned!

Marvel’s Wonder Man cast

Yahya Abdul-Mateen II heads up the cast for Marvel’s Wonder Man, portraying Simon Williams, a struggling actor trying to make it big in the bustling city of Hollywood, Los Angeles.

This is his third time portraying a character from a comic book in live action; he was part of the critically-acclaimed Watchmen series on HBO and played the antagonist Black Manta in the DC’s Aquaman movie franchise.

Actor Abdul-Mateen II will team up with the renowned Sir Ben Kingsley, returning to portray the humorous character Trevor Slattery. Previously an ambitious actor, Slattery has found himself in a series of peculiar and sensational predicaments throughout his career.

Kingsley first appeared in the character over a decade back for Iron Man 3, and since then, he has returned to the role in the short film “All Hail the King” and the 2021 hit movie Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.

Director Destin Daniel Cretton is not only directing but also co-creating and serving as an executive producer for Marvel’s Wonder Man. This suggests that elements from the magical martial arts genre, similar to Shang-Chi, may be incorporated into the show’s storyline during its broadcast.

In addition to Demetrius Grosse playing Simon’s sibling, Eric, and Ed Harris portraying his agent, Neal, the ensemble cast of this Disney+ series is expected to feature Lauren Glazier, Josh Gad, Byron Bowers, Béchir Sylvain, and Manny McCord in supporting roles.

Here’s a round up of the confirmed Wonder Man cast thus far:

  • Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Simon Williams / Wonder Man
  • Ben Kingsley as Trevor Slattery
  • Demetrius Grosse as Eric Williams / Grim Reaper
  • Ed Harris as Neal Saroyan
  • Lauren Glazier as TBC
  • Josh Gad as TBC
  • Byron Bowers as TBC
  • Béchir Sylvain as TBC
  • Manny McCord as TBC

What is Marvel’s Wonder Man about?

At present, details regarding the storyline of Marvel’s Wonder Man are scarce. However, Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige hinted that the film will be remarkably distinct from any previous projects they’ve undertaken. (According to TVLine)

In conversation with Collider, executive producer Brad Winderbaum explained that this new project offers a fresh taste for Marvel. It is directly inspired by the creative minds of Destin Daniel Cretton and Andrew Guest.

To be honest, this is one of my all-time favorites. I believe it’s a hidden gem – perhaps the best show that has yet to gain widespread recognition. I can hardly contain my enthusiasm to see how the audience will respond to it. It truly feels like a heartfelt tribute to our craft as filmmakers.

He added: “It’s a love letter to acting as a profession, and it’s a very sincere, beautiful show.”

In the comic books, Simon Williams, also known as Wonder Man, is most recognized for being part of the West Coast Avengers – a spin-off team based in California, distinct from the main New York-centric group. Winderbaum has hinted at paying tribute to this original material, as reported by Collider.

Is there a trailer for Marvel’s Wonder Man?

As a passionate cinephile, I must admit, while Marvel has given us a sneak peek into their 2025 lineup, it’s more like a teaser rather than a full-fledged trailer. There are brief glimpses of Wonder Man, but I’m still craving for a longer, more engaging preview to truly get excited about!

Nevertheless, we’ll leave it here in case you want to take a look:
