Captain America Star SLAMS Haters of New Cap

Amongst the main stars of “Captain America: Brave New World”, one has openly shared his candid views on fans who have expressed strong opinions regarding Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson assuming the role of Captain America following Anthony’s introduction as the new Captain in “Avengers: Endgame”. However, it appears that the broader Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) fanbase hasn’t fully embraced the idea of Anthony Mackie taking on the Captain America mantle since Steve Rogers passed the shield to Sam Wilson. A vocal segment of fans has expressed their support for Sam Wilson symbolizing America within the franchise, resulting in both the character and actor receiving some criticism.

Carl Lumbly, the actor behind Isaiah Bradley in “Captain America: Brave New World” and “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier”, has publicly criticized individuals who refuse to acknowledge Sam Wilson as the new Captain America. Lumbly drew upon his own personal experiences and didn’t mince words when addressing this particular group, openly expressing his genuine feelings on the matter.

In an interview at Reel School, as shared on YouTube, I was asked about those struggling to accept Sam Wilson as Captain America. Reflecting on my own experiences, I’d say that, much like Sam, I too am part of this nation – a fellow citizen with a similar skin color. I strongly identify as one of “We the People,” as stated in our Constitution, and I believe that our shared values and ideals make us all deserving of this iconic role.

Later on, Lumbly shared stories from his personal family background, focusing especially on his parents’ struggles and triumphs. He emphasized the impact they had, describing it as “‘their significant contributions: ‘

That’s an insightful question, and I can’t immediately think of a response. However, if I had to speak from my personal perspective, I would share that I identify with being a person of color living in this country, much like Sam. As someone who, like Isaiah Bradley, strives to be part of ‘We the people,’ I believe our parents’ ideals, which brought them from a small island during a time when those principles were questioned, are what drove them here and made an impact. Not just because of who they were or what they did, but also because of the influence they had on others, including those with lighter skin.

In the movie “Captain America: Brave New World,” the leading actor later confided that he feels certain individuals become overly fixated on dismissing a reality that binds us all as kin, referring to it as an “obsession.

It seems quite extreme to me – ranging from foolishness to absurdity – that this nation remains so fixated on denying a truth that unites us all as kin. Frankly, I, along with many others, have no patience for delusion. Unfortunately, the same reality applies to black people who live in a unique and specific context. It appears that those who harbor such fear are concerned about their own safety, but the fact that others lack safety does not guarantee your own safety. It’s unfortunate if one can’t accept this, but it is the hard truth we must face.

In his explanation, Lumbly used an illustrative scenario of someone daringly crossing a bustling highway to emphasize his exhaustion with the pain that certain American communities endure.

It’s crucial to check for traffic before crossing a bustling freeway as a speeding vehicle at 65 miles per hour can cause serious harm if it hits you. You might think you’re invincible, but the reality is that your body won’t stand a chance against such force. I genuinely don’t want anyone to get hurt, but I’m tired of witnessing the pain suffered by disadvantaged communities in our nation. This suffering diminishes the immense potential that exists within our political system and society as a whole.

Lumbly offered some guidance for those resistant to Sam Wilson as Captain America, and similar viewpoints. However, he essentially proposed that their resistance boils down to “apprehension:” This change in language makes the statement easier to understand and more natural, while maintaining its original meaning.

I’d tell them, stay grounded in your current situation. I don’t think anyone can be pushed into a different place, but you seem to be missing the bigger picture, and I’m truly sorry for that. Maybe it would help to discuss this with someone else or, as an old saying goes, ‘Air your grievances among yourselves.’ I believe these people might have something in common with others who find it hard to accept things, and I think it’s fear holding them back.

In the series “Captain America: Brave New World,” available on Disney+, Lumbly portrays Isaiah Bradley. This production also features Mackie and Lumbly, along with Harrison Ford as Thaddeus Ross, Danny Ramirez as Joaquin Torres, and Shira Haas as Ruth Bat-Seraph.

Anthony Mackie Is Here To Stay

After assuming the role of Captain America, Anthony Mackie has faced substantial criticism, yet luckily, Marvel Studios and the long-standing MCU performer have managed to keep this from impacting the character’s upcoming storylines.

It’s been confirmed by Marvel Studios that Anthony Mackie will feature in “Avengers: Doomsday.” Additionally, it’s noteworthy that Sam Wilson was hinted at in the most recent Marvel Cinematic Universe release, “Thunderbolts,” with a scene suggesting a potential future conflict between Sam and another well-established MCU character.

As a dedicated fan, I’m confidently anticipating that I’ll see Sam Wilson, played by none other than myself, in the upcoming “Avengers: Secret Wars”. There seems to be no signs of me letting go of this incredible role anytime soon.

As a die-hard cinema enthusiast, I can confidently say that Mackie has left an indelible mark on the Marvel Cinematic Universe with his portrayal of Captain America. It’s clear that he will continue to shape the MCU in profound ways moving forward, given his ongoing presence in various projects, standing tall as the symbol of American spirit.

Lumbly also shared insights about Isaiah Bradley’s potential journey ahead, expressing his thoughts on where the character might go next.
