Westlife has announced that they will release new music and schedule additional live performances as part of celebrating their 25-year milestone since their initial global tour debuted.
The four-member boy band, consisting of Shane Filan, Nicky Byrne, Kian Egan, and Mark Feehily, announced some thrilling upcoming projects in a statement on X, however, it was regrettably disclosed that Mark Feehily won’t be participating in these plans.
To our fantastic followers, here’s something exciting we want to tell you – it’s about our 25th Anniversary celebrations kickoff! We can hardly contain our excitement!
On February 9, 2001, we launched our very first world tour at the Newcastle Arena. Can you believe it’s been 25 years since then?
We’ve got lots of thrilling news coming up for you real soon! This includes fresh tunes, a new album, exclusive concerts, and plenty more surprises in store.
The band continued: “Sadly, Mark will be unable to join the celebrations.
We look forward to welcoming him back on stage when he’s prepared and fit to do so. As usual, he extends his affection and positive vibes to each of you.
In February 2024, during their Wild Dreams world tour, Mark took a step away from the band because he was dealing with persistent health issues.
In an Instagram post, he detailed his health problems stemming from a surgery in August 2020. The operation led to a serious complication that caused him to contract severe sepsis.
For approximately three and a half years, he explained his experience of being treated in an intensive care unit at a hospital during the COVID-19 lockdown period. During this time, he also contracted pneumonia and a significant “abdominal hernia”, necessitating surgical intervention to repair it.
He expressed deep sorrow and announced that he would need to pause his involvement in all Westlife tours temporarily, as he needed time to recuperate fully from the challenging experiences he had faced personally.
“Believe me, I wish things could be different.”
