Everything is better in 16-bit, as Earthion proves.
This recently released shoot ’em up (shmup) was specifically crafted to be compatible with the original Sega Genesis console. It was developed by Ancient, a renowned studio known for creating the game Beyond Oasis, which was scored by Yuzo Koshiro, a composer famous for his work on timeless hits like Streets of Rage 2.
The complete game will be released on July 31st, available for both PS5 and PS4. It offers eight thrilling stages, precise arcade-style gameplay, and an electrifying soundtrack reminiscent of the ’90s with its sawtooth beats.
With Earth’s resources exhausted and its environment severely damaged, most of humanity has sought refuge on Mars,” the blurb states. However, when hostile forces launch an assault on Earth, humans are left with no choice but to retaliate. As a dedicated environmental researcher named Azusa Takanashi, you’ll command the advanced spacecraft YK-IIA and embark on the crucial mission of defending humanity in its most significant battle ever. Defeat is not an option!

This game will physically be released on an authentic SEGA Genesis cartridge sometime in the future, so feel free to enjoy that experience. However, if you prefer the ease of playing it on modern equipment, the console version will be available in a couple of weeks. It truly looks spectacular.
