This year, we didn’t expect a movie about ruthless cannibal bodybuilders who are also serial killers, but that’s precisely what was offered with the debut of “Protein Frenzy”. The plot follows a gym-fanatic serial killer, who in a twisted twist, murders and consumes a local drug dealer for their protein supplement. Unintentionally, this act triggers a ruthless and bloody gang war between rival criminal groups.
This movie, made on a limited budget, boasts an impressive ensemble headed by Craig Russell and helmed by Tony Burke. We had the pleasure of speaking with them, discussing everything from the film itself to what exactly Craig consumes in those protein shakes he’s always drinking in the flick. They were delightful conversationalists, sharing numerous stories, particularly about the identity of the voice behind one of the gang members’ mom in the film.
