2 Years Later, Marvel Studios Just Released New Episode of Series Fans Thought Was Over

After a hiatus of two years, Marvel Studios: Legends, a popular digital series that offers concise episodes highlighting various MCU characters and items, has returned with a new episode on YouTube. This short documentary series features key moments from the franchise’s 36 movies and 13 TV series, making it an ideal choice for those seeking a quick recap or introduction to Marvel Cinematic Universe figures. Originally airing on Disney+, it later moved to YouTube to cater to a broader audience that might need a refresher on MCU characters. The series took a break after wrapping up its 21-episode second season covering Phase Five… until recently. In the past week, Marvel Studios: Legends released a new episode focusing on Riri Williams (Dominique Thorne).

Previous installments have delved into almost every nook of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), covering characters like Ant-Man, the Tesseract, Scarlet Witch, Valkyrie, and the TVA, before shifting attention to Riri Williams, also known as Ironheart. This character, who transitioned from MIT student to hero, made her MCU debut in “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” in 2022. Her self-titled Disney+ series is set to premiere later this month on the platform. The latest episode of “Marvel Studios: Legends” offers a profile of Ironheart, her past ties with Wakanda, and sneak peeks at the upcoming series. Although some viewers have criticized “Marvel Studios: Legends” as a repetitive clip show, the series provides concise yet comprehensive recaps on MCU characters in a universe that is becoming increasingly complex and diverse.

Marvel Studios’ Legends Previews Riri’s Journey in Ironheart

In the most recent installment of Marvel Studios: Legends, an episode reviews Riri’s interactions with the Wakandans in Wakanda Forever. This includes how she unintentionally made Namor (played by Tenoch Huerta) her adversary through her invention of a vibranium detector, the tragic moment when Queen Ramonda (Angela Bassett) gave up her life to protect Riri, and the climactic battle where she joined forces with the Wakandans to overthrow Namor and his Talokan allies. This recap of Riri, a brilliant and quick-witted MIT student, serves as a reminder that her compassion matches her intelligence as we eagerly anticipate her upcoming solo series.

In the episode of Marvel Studios: Legends featuring Riri, we catch a glimpse of Ironheart too. We meet Riri’s new enemy, Parker Robbins (Anthony Ramos), more famously known as the villain Hood from Marvel Comics. Originally a petty criminal, Robbins obtained his powers by defeating a Nisanti demon and stealing its hood and boots. The Hood then became a notorious figure in New York City’s underworld and established his own crime syndicate. However, it remains unclear from his brief appearances in the Marvel Studios: Legends series and Ironheart trailers how deeply entrenched Robbins is as a criminal mastermind when Riri crosses paths with him.

It’s possible that Marvel Studios: Legends might seem redundant to hardcore Marvel enthusiasts. Nevertheless, it effectively stirs excitement in everyone for the forthcoming series.
