The adventure starring Deadpool/Wolverine has been thrilling thus far, pairing two of Marvel’s most beloved characters. Not only did they revive a significant X-Men antagonist, Stryfe, but this was merely the start. Stryfe managed to manipulate both Deadpool and Wolverine, transforming them into X-Cutioners as part of a fresh plan involving a revamped Legacy Virus. While Deadpool has been struggling against his programming, Stryfe seems to have full control over Wolverine. The series has been fantastic for action sequences, but in Deadpool/Wolverine #6, another shocking twist unfolds for readers: the return of yet another formidable X-Men adversary – the mutant named En Sabah Nur, better known as Apocalypse. This turn of events could have far-reaching consequences for the X-Men in the days to come.
Stryfe and Apocalypse have always had a strong connection, but this latest development came as quite a surprise. The comic delves deeply into the history between these two powerful mutants, providing insights that dedicated X-Men fans have been eagerly waiting for regarding their complex relationship. At present, Apocalypse is no longer an influential figure among mutants, having transferred his power to Doug Ramsey, known as Cypher, and chosen him as his successor, Revelation. Exploring the history of Apocalypse and Stryfe will reveal the magnitude of this event and its potential implications for Earth’s future.
Stryfe Has Finally Lived Up to the Reason He Was Created
In a bygone era, the techno-organic virus was implanted in Nathan Summers, son of Cyclops and Madelyne Pryor, by Apocalypse. Cyclops and X-Factor intervened, rescuing him and delivering him to Mother Askani, a future incarnation of Cyclops’ and Jean Grey’s child, Rachel Summers. Nathan was sent a millennium into the future to learn to master the virus under Askani’s tutelage. However, Apocalypse seized control of Nathan, taking a genetic sample in the process. He utilized this sample to clone Nathan, resulting in Stryfe. Stryfe was designed as a vessel for Apocalypse due to his failing physical form. Yet, Stryfe’s powers proved too powerful for Apocalypse to inhabit. After growing up, Stryfe ventured back to the present to confront Cable, the older Nathan, with the aim of preventing him from thwarting Apocalypse’s rise to power. Over time, Apocalypse persistently attempted to seize control of Stryfe, eventually succeeding and taking over his body. As a result, the future Apocalypse was able to reenter the present, aiming to annihilate his adversaries.

Over the years, the X-Men have defeated Apocalypse multiple times, but the upcoming encounter is unlike any other. This new version of Apocalypse ruled Earth for centuries in the future and knows how each of his past selves perish. Although he no longer possesses his Celestial-enhanced body, Stryfe’s form serves as a formidable alternative. Without the techno-organic virus, Nathan Summers now boasts incredible mental powers, which Stryfe inherits as well. This Apocalypse may lack many of the terrifying powers he once possessed, but he is endowed with nearly unlimited psionic abilities and immense energy resources. This version of Apocalypse poses one of the greatest threats, capable of bringing about destruction in the present world, especially since Wolverine stands by his side. Cunning is a trait that defines Apocalypse among Marvel’s villains, and he has been meticulously planning this very scheme for some time now. All he lacks is Stryfe’s helmet to complete his plan.
Apocalypse’s Newest Plan Will Wreak Havoc on the World
In the ongoing destruction we call the Apocalypse, Stryfe has been wreaking havoc across the globe. He’s initiating the installation of Legacy 2.0 into global water sources, and is simultaneously undermining the world’s infrastructure. The crux of this chaos lies in Stryfe’s helmet, a key component that Apocalypse wants Wolverine to retrieve from a clandestine S.H.I.E.L.D. vault.
Wolverine, tasked with this mission, overcomes all the facility’s security systems. He faces an advanced LMD (Living Micro-Robot) version of Nick Fury, a formidable adversary that momentarily slows him down. However, before the LMD Fury could deliver the final blow, Apocalypse makes his entrance and annihilates the simulated Fury.
The situation seems rather grim at the moment. Stryfe, while known for his flair, has never been a formidable villain with much depth. However, the introduction of Apocalypse into the equation transforms everything drastically. This Apocalypse is by far the most lethal version we’ve encountered, and the fact that he has a clever strategy in place should make anyone think twice. On the bright side, Deadpool remains relatively composed, and reinforcements – in this instance, Maverick – are on their way. The question remains: will they be able to turn the tide or does Apocalypse hold all the aces?
