Hello! I go by Times, or TopMob as some might know me, and you might have caught wind of the latest James Bond game in production: 007 First Light.

Under the guidance of IO Interactive, creators of the renowned Hitman series, First Light offers a fresh take on a Bond tale, focusing on a youthful James in his initial days within MI6.

If you’re just as agitated, rather than invigorated, as us, then continue reading to discover all the essential details about 007 First Light, including its potential release date.

007 First Light release date speculation

007 First Light is planned for a 2026 release, but the exact date remains undisclosed at this point.

Back in November 2020, word got out that a new game was on the horizon, but it was just called ‘Project 007’. That’s right, I’ve been waiting with bated breath for this one, as it seems to have been in development for close to half a decade!

IO Interactive doesn’t follow a specific schedule for game releases, as evidenced by the varying months (January, November, and March) when their last three Hitman games were launched. Consequently, at this point, we can’t make many predictions about their release schedule until they provide us with more information, which is unfortunate.

Can I pre-order 007 First Light?

Unfortunately, 007 First Light is not yet available for pre-orders.

Which consoles and platforms can play 007 First Light?

007 First Light will release on PC, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2.

One of the initial significant cross-platform games is set to debut on the Nintendo Switch 2, demonstrating the enhanced capabilities of the latest console.

It appears that a version of the game for older consoles such as Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch 1 may not be released anymore, suggesting we’ve reached a point where they can no longer support new releases.

007 First Light gameplay and story details

007 First Light presents an entirely new tale for James Bond, drawing on numerous influences from the classic Ian Fleming books.

The upcoming game delves into the backstory of James Bond, focusing on him at the age of 26, who has only completed a handful of assignments, yet is gaining notoriety for his unconventional behavior.

For the first time, he’ll be given a significant assignment. Once accomplished, this mission will grant him the coveted 00 status for the first time.

Additionally, like Bond, the game includes familiar faces such as M, Q, and Moneypenny – some of the iconic Bond characters.

In terms of gameplay, based on the brief glimpses we’ve had, it seems to combine the stealth elements from Hitman series with action-packed shooting, hand-to-hand fights, and an abundance of tools you can utilize throughout your gaming experience.

Additionally, it seems there are a pair of transportation segments, where Bond is seen cruising in a vintage Aston Martin and what looks like a motorized watercraft as well.

This game carries a similar atmosphere to Indiana Jones and the Fateful Voyage, making it worth watching out for if you enjoyed his previous escapade.
