Well, Now the PS5 Needs an Official Trackball Controller As Well

In the approaching months, Sony is set to debut its inaugural arcade stick compatible with both the PS5 and PC. However, there might be a necessity for their hardware team to brainstorm new ideas as well.

Specialists in video game preservation, Digital Eclipse, have unveiled plans for the release of Golden Tee Arcade Classics on both PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4.

The digital release is scheduled for July 17th. A physical version for PS5 will become available starting October 24th. This collection gathers eight legendary trackball games from Incredible Technologies, such as: Golden Tee 3D Golf, Golden Tee 97, Golden Tee 98, Golden Tee 99, Golden Tee 2K, Golden Tee Classic, Shuffleshot, and World Class Bowling.

In the past, some of these games were playable on the PlayStation 1, but this time around, you’ll be experiencing the original arcade versions complete with digital trackball functionality.

According to the press statement, it appears that the DualSense controller‘s touchpad will enable gameplay, offering an alternative to conventional analog stick control. It might just turn out to be the best method for playing, so it’s definitely something to give a shot.

Just as you might anticipate with these timeless tavern favorites, multiplayer functionality in its full turn-based format will be provided, along with an exciting new feature called Mulligan mode. This mode enables players to redo a shot when they make a mistake.

This game appears to lack some of the comprehensive documentary elements found in Digital Eclipse’s previous titles, yet we find comfort in its simpler approach to preservation. For a sneak peek, you might want to watch the trailer provided above.
