As a die-hard cinema enthusiast who’s particularly fond of the Marvel universe, I can’t contain my excitement about an upcoming game-changer for everyone’s favorite wall-crawler, Spider-Man! This year, we’ll witness not one, but two Spideys in action, and it’s going to be a spectacle.
The creative minds of Joe Kelly, Pepe Larraz, and John Romita Jr. have breathed new life into the Amazing Spider-Man series this year, introducing a formidable new adversary for our friendly neighborhood Spider-Man: Hellgate. Their showdown unfolds in Amazing Spider-Man #8, and believe me, the resolution of this battle is going to have significant repercussions for Peter Parker and Spider-Man alike.
This is a pivotal moment for our web-slinger, and it’s all set to unfold in September’s milestone Amazing Spider-Man #11, also known as Legacy Issue #975. Get ready, folks, because this is going to be one comic book event you won’t want to miss!
After an astonishing confrontation between Spider-Man and Hellgate in Amazing Spider-Man #8, we’ll have two Spider-Men appearing from now on. One will be active on Earth, while the other will be in space. Marvel poses the intriguing question: is Peter Parker one or both of these web-slingers?
Previously hinted at in promotional artwork by Pepe Larraz, this upcoming storyline features our interstellar Spider-Man donning a fresh cosmic suit during his journey home. Along the way, he’ll find himself entangled in otherworldly escapades, picking up both new allies and adversaries among the stars. Meanwhile, back on Earth, the Marvel Universe is put on edge due to Spider-Man’s altered behavior and aggressive tactics. Pepe Larraz will handle the artwork for the space-themed episodes, while Romita Jr. focuses on illustrating Spider-Man’s Earthbound adventures.

Kelly mentioned, “I’m a fan of Spider-Man stories that are grounded in Manhattan, and I particularly enjoy it when he’s out of his element. However, why settle for one when you can have both? That’s why this story, ‘A Tale of Two Spider-Men,’ appeals to me.
In both scenarios, Spider-Man is grappling with his personal issues following the harsh introduction of Hellgate. Regardless of where Spider-Man appears, inner struggles seem to accompany him. This arc has plenty of action, introduces new characters and threats, but it also offers a lot of emotional depth as Peter and those close to him strive to pick up the pieces after a traumatic incident.
Among the characters that Spider-Man befriends in space is one called Symbiote, who appears to be a childlike creature made of symbiotic material. You can find Symbiote on Pepe Larraz’s promotional variant cover for issue #11 of Amazing Spider-Man.
