Mario Kart World’s First Update Includes Host of Fixes For Gameplay and Network Bugs

Approximately two weeks following the initial release of “Mario Kart World,” Nintendo has rolled out their first significant update for the game. This update bumps the version number up to 1.1.1 and addresses a variety of technical issues, including one that prevented players from using certain items in the game.

This update resolved several issues encountered by users. For instance, there was an issue where control responsiveness would cease while selecting a character for Free Roam. Additionally, some players found they could pass through walls near the finish line on the DK Spaceport level. The update also rectified a problem that occasionally led to communication failures when attempting to join friends in VS Race, Battle, and Online Play game modes.

As a devoted Nintendo fan, I’ve been absolutely thrilled by the phenomenal success of Mario Kart World since its debut as a launch title for the Switch 2. A recent report unveiled that an astounding 780,000 physical copies of this game were snapped up in Japan alone during the launch period! To put it into perspective, the initial sales figures for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (186,000) and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (284,000) pale in comparison. It’s simply mind-blowing to witness such a resounding reception!

The creation of “Mario Kart World” has been quite dynamic, with Nintendo hiring Monolith Soft, known for creating “Xenoblade Chronicles”, to assist in its development, particularly focusing on the open world, characters, and environments. In simpler terms, Nintendo enlisted the help of Monolith Soft to develop the landscapes and character designs for “Mario Kart World,” which was recently released by Nintendo Co., Ltd. as stated by the studio earlier this month.

The creators behind Mario Kart World have previously explained their reluctance to label the kart racer as an “open-world game”. Producer Kosuke Yabuki stated that the term “open-world” is too vague in its interpretation.

Yabuki explained that while the development team doesn’t refer to their game world as an “open world,” it is indeed large and filled with various locations like the Mario Kart Circuit, Bowser Castle, and Choco Mountain. He added that they aim to create a new Mario Kart experience within this expansive environment, but they don’t find the term “open world” straightforward in its definition.
