Typically, when Funko introduces a set of Funko Pops, they’re based on a particular movie or TV series. But this time, they’re honoring some of Tim Burton’s finest films, particularly his renowned stop-motion animated movies, in one collection – namely, The Corpse Bride, Frankenweenie, and The Nightmare Before Christmas.
The collection begins with a Funko Pop Plus figurine of the Corpse Bride, adorned with butterflies, which is a more detailed version compared to the standard ones. The bride is covered in butterflies as a nod to the film’s ending. Following this, Funko has released a delight for dog and Halloween enthusiasts with their second Pop featuring Victor and his pet Sparky from Frankenweenie. This set includes two individual figures of Victor and Sparky, both in the movie’s classic black-and-white style. Last but not least, don’t forget to pre-order the latest Funko Pops based on The Nightmare Before Christmas, showcasing Jack and Sally in stylish new outfits that make them look simply fabulous. The Nightmare Before Christmas Debate: Christmas or Halloween Movie?
Over the past few years, the discussion on whether or not Tim Burton’s “The Nightmare Before Christmas” is more of a Halloween film or a Christmas movie has intensified, leaving fans at odds as to which holiday it aligns with best. As a diehard fan of all things Christmassy, I firmly believe that this film encapsulates the essence of Christmas, making it an ideal choice for a heartwarming Christmas Eve viewing experience. If timed correctly, Jack Skellington could be seen handing out presents in real-time alongside good old Saint Nick! Regrettably, some prominent figures in the film industry might not share my sentiments on this matter.
During an interview at Epic Universe’s grand opening in Orlando, Florida, Danny Elfman – the vocalist behind Jack Skellington and the composer of the film’s music – shared his thoughts on a longstanding discussion. He opined that the movie was intended to celebrate both holidays, but he believes its essence lies within Halloween.
Essentially, Elfman agrees that “The Nightmare Before Christmas” could be considered both a Halloween and a Christmas movie due to its dual themes. However, since he was born on Halloween, it holds a special place in his heart as his favorite night of the year. In the story, Jack Skellington, whom Elfman voiced, is the ruler of Halloweenland despite his affection for Christmasland. So, while Jack enjoys the songs and stories about Christmasland, he remains the Pumpkin King, not the Christmas Tree King at heart.
You decide whether you concur with me that it’s a Christmas movie, or with Danny Elfman, the musician and film composer, who claims it’s more of a Halloween movie. Make up your mind!
