It’s well-known that Hideo Kojima has a deep love for cinema, which might explain why the game produced by his studio is being transformed into adaptations, not just once, but on two separate occasions.
According to Deadline’s report, a mature-themed animated movie for Death Stranding will join the already planned live-action film adaptation.
In partnership with Kojima Productions and Line Mileage, the upcoming animated film is set to materialize, with Aaron Guzikowski taking charge of penning the script for the project.
Guzikowski’s previous works include Raised by Wolves, Papillon, and Prisoners.
As a die-hard fan, I’m thrilled to share that the upcoming animated movie for Death Stranding won’t simply retell the original game’s tale. Instead, it will present an entirely new storyline woven within the intriguing world of Death Stranding itself!
Guzikowski expresses his enthusiasm by stating that he deeply cherishes the imaginative realm of Death Stranding. He finds it incredibly liberating, with its dark yet hopeful beauty. He feels privileged and thrilled to be given the chance by Hideo Kojima, whose work he has long admired, to contribute to this universe and bring forth fresh tales within its fertile, intriguing landscape.
As an avid admirer, I’d like to clarify that while the live-action movie under A24’s direction by Michael Sarnoski is indeed moving forward with production, this new development I’m excited about seems to be a distinct project altogether.
Are you looking forward to Death Stranding making its mark in cinemas with its two films? Share your thoughts in the comment section.
