5 Predator Franchise Stars Who Can Now Return (Thanks To Killer Of Killers)

The popular Predator series is seeing a significant revival after the release of the animated compilation titled “Predator: Killer of Killers.” This story features three human warriors from various time periods and cultures, who engage in battles against the Predators (also known as Yautja). Each warrior manages to come out on top. However, an unexpected twist in “Predator: Killer of Killers” unfolds when these warriors are captured, frozen in cryogenic storage, and later revived for gladiatorial combat on a distant planet controlled by the Predators. Additionally, the end credits scene of “Killer of Killers” hints at the Comanche heroine from 2022’s Prey, Amber Midthunder’s Naru, as one of the protagonists among the frozen Predator warriors.

In “Predator: Badlands,” an unexpected revelation opens up possibilities for the Predator series’ mythology to grow even more. However, this is just the start. The real surprise in “Killer of Killers” comes from the fact that characters who have survived in virtually every Predator film could potentially rejoin the series following this twist. With Dan Trachtenberg at the helm of the revitalized Predator franchise, it’s likely that iconic characters might make a comeback in future installments. Here are 5 stars from the Predator series who may easily return post “Predator: Killer of Killers.

1) Dutch (Predator, 1987)

The original human character in the Predator series, Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Dutch, is the one fans might have anticipated appearing again within the franchise at least once. This idea was even suggested for Predator 2 (with various accounts stating why Arnold chose not to reprise his role). Despite this, as a human who has defeated a Predator, Dutch is precisely the type of warrior that Predators would select for abduction, cryogenic freezing, and pitting against each other in combat. The case for bringing Dutch back into a future Predator project is particularly compelling thanks to Killer of Killers.

2) Anna (Predator, 1987)

In the film “Predator”, it was technically Dutch who was the last member of their unit to have encountered the Yautja hunter, but there was another survivor – Central American freedom fighter Anna (played by Elpidia Carillo). As the unit was eliminated one by one, Anna followed Dutch’s instruction to “Make a run for the chopper!” and also offered support in fighting the Predator throughout. Growing up, Anna had been told the Latin American folktale of “The Demon who collects human trophies”, and she provides key information about the Predator’s origins and hunting methods in “Predator”.

Even though she didn’t actively fight the Predator as much as Dutch did, if she managed to survive against one, Yautja hunting traditions might consider her a winner over a Predator. This could potentially make her an intriguing target to the Predators, who might choose to seize and transport her to their realm for another gladiatorial encounter.

3) Detective Mike Harrigan (Predator 2, 1990)

1997 Los Angeles’ cityscape serves as a battleground when a Predator invades in the underestimated film “Predator 2”. Detective Mike Harrigan, portrayed by Danny Glover, relentlessly chases and vanquishes this extraterrestrial hunter. Notably, among all franchise characters, Harrigan gets the most intimate view of Predator culture. He receives briefings about the CIA’s intelligence on these creatures, and he even catches a glimpse of the Predator’s trophy room on its spacecraft, where he observes the various species it has hunted, such as those from the “Alien” series.

Although other Predators appear to admire Harrigan’s hunting abilities by not interfering with Earth and even giving him their iconic flintlock pistol, his victory over a Predator and understanding of their origins could provoke them to kidnap Harrigan from Earth and challenge him in the Predator arena. This potential abduction could pave the way for Danny Glover’s potential reappearance in the Predator franchise.

4) Royce (Predators, 2010)

In the 2010 film “Predators”, the protagonist, a tough and jaded mercenary named Royce (Adrien Brody), finds himself not on Earth but on a game preserve planet where he’s hunted by Predators. Unlike previous encounters between humans and Predators, Royce isn’t fighting them on Earth; instead, he’s abducted and transported directly to this hunting ground. What sets “Predators” apart in the franchise is its exploration of various tribes of Predators, with three towering Super Predators instigating a long-standing feud against the Classic Predators. One of these Classic Predators is even held captive within the movie. This suggests that not all Predators operate in the same manner; the Super Predators appear to prefer selecting the most powerful enemies from Earth and transporting them to their designated hunting grounds.

The concept that humans who’ve conquered predators in an arena-like setting could potentially be selected for the Predator’s fighting games is expanded upon here, positioning Royce as a human who has previously bested a Predator, making him another possible contender for these combat events.

5) Alice Braga (Predators, 2010)

In the movie Predators, only Israeli Defense Force soldier Isabel (Alice Braga), a skilled sniper, survives alongside Royce. She uses her abilities to aid Royce in overpowering the leader of the Super Predator in the climactic battle. Unlike Royce who is cold and calculating, Isabel possesses a larger heart and more compassion. This difference between these two philosophically distinct warriors contributes to their compelling dual protagonist dynamic in the movie Predators.

In their last appearance in the movie Predators, Royce and Isabel were dropped onto an alien hunting ground, with Royce saying something about finding a way off this expletive-filled planet. Since then, it’s uncertain if or how they managed to escape the game preserve planet. However, considering they defeated a Super Predator, the plot twist in Predator: Killer of Killers implies that they might not have needed to leave, as a new group of Yautja could have taken them to another Predator’s Colosseum on a different planet instead. This leaves open the possibility for Alice Braga’s character Isabel to be revived from cryostasis in future installments of the Predator franchise, potentially becoming another human warrior.

The movie known as “Predator: Slayer of Slayers” can be streamed on both Hulu and Disney+, while “Predator: Wasteland” is set to hit theaters on November 7th.
