Wednesday Teaser Introduces Nevermore’s New Principal (Played by a Major Actor)

We’re nearing the beginning of the second term at Nevermore Academy. After the tragic passing of Principal Larissa Weems in the initial season, a new principal has taken over: Barry Dort, played by Steve Buscemi. The second season of Wednesday brings together Buscemi and executive producer-director Tim Burton for the first time since their collaboration on 2003’s Big Fish, and it also feels like a gathering of old friends for Nevermore graduates Morticia (Catherine Zeta-Jones) and Gomez Addams (Luis Guzmán), who are the parents of our protagonist Wednesday (Jenna Ortega).

For this year, Burton hints that we’ll take our family to Nevermore, as he puts it for the upcoming season. He also suggests that having your family at school can be the most dreadful situation, right?

On Wednesday, Netflix unveiled a fresh trailer for the show “Wednesday,” featuring the new headmaster who promises both students and parents that he’ll restore the school, Nevermore, to its past splendor. He plans to do this by recruiting a new group of energetic young misfits to enrich the school’s ranks.

Previously having a supporting role, Wednesday’s younger brother Pugsley (Isaac Ordonez), who possesses electrokinetic abilities, has now been upgraded to a regular cast member alongside Zeta-Jones as Morticia, Guzmán as Gomez, and Luyanda Unati Lewis-Nyawo as Deputy Ritchie Santiago.

In the video, Principal Dort, played by Buscemi, says, “No matter what type of misfit you might be,” you’ll discover acceptance here at Nevermore.

According to siren Bianca Barclay (Joy Sunday), this place is where we honor what sets us apart. Lycanthrope Enid Sinclair (Emma Myers) agrees, stating that it allows us to be our authentic selves. However, Wednesday expresses a less than enthusiastic opinion, likening the process to hearing nails scratch on a chalkboard.

In the upcoming season 2, Jamie McShane reprises his role as Sheriff Donovan Galpin and Fred Armisen takes on Uncle Fester, both appearing alongside notable stars such as Christopher Lloyd – previously known for playing Uncle Fester in the 1991 and 1993 versions of The Addams Family, Thandiwe Newton (known for her work in Westworld), Frances O’Connor (famous for her role in The Conjuring 2), Haley Joel Osment (recognized from his part in The Sixth Sense), Heather Matarazzo (well-known for her role in Scream), Joonas Suatamo (familiar face from Star Wars: The Force Awakens), and Joanna Lumley (popular from The Sandman) as Grandmama. Additionally, Lady Gaga is also joining the cast (she has been seen in Joker: Folie á Deux).

Additionally, joining us for the second round are Moosa Mostafa portraying Eugene, Georgie Farmer as character Ajax, Victor Dorobantu taking on the role of Thing, and Hunter Doohan reprising his role as Hyde Tyler Galpin.

Miles Millar and Alfred Gough, the masterminds behind the series, shared that their objective for this season was twofold: to uncover some new, exciting talents and bring on board acting veterans who have long been admired, to join Jenna and the team at Nevermore. As we take a look at the roster of talent we’ve gathered, we can confidently say that we couldn’t be more pleased. Our goal has been achieved.

In the upcoming scenes, Burton takes charge as director for “Here We Woe Again,” the first episode of season 2 for the series “Wednesday,” scheduled to stream on Netflix starting August 6. The second half of the second season will follow a month later on September 3.
