Red Dead Redemption 2 Voice Actor Apologises That He “Possibly Misled” People About an Announcement

Although voice actor Rob Wiethoff hinted at a possible announcement from Rockstar Games about Red Dead Redemption 2, and was supported by fellow voice actor Roger Clark, Rockstar has yet to release any official news. In a recent live stream, Wiethoff clarified that he doesn’t have the power to speak on behalf of Rockstar Games, stating “I do not make announcements for Rockstar Games.

He expressed his enthusiasm about something, stating he was genuinely thrilled, and believed others would share this feeling. He admitted that there may have been confusion when he mentioned having an announcement without being able to discuss it at the moment.

Just remember, I’m not the one who announces news for Rockstar Games. You already know that, but let me clarify since it seems necessary. It’s Rockstar Games themselves who announce their news, and they don’t use me for that purpose. However, there’s some exciting news coming up that I believe many of you will be thrilled about.

Wiethoff is recognized for his portrayal of John Marston in Red Dead Redemption 2, while Clark gained fame for his performance as Arthur Morgan. Recent hints from both actors may indicate news about an upgrade for Red Dead Redemption 2 on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, as well as a potential release for the game on a new Switch console (Switch 2). Just this past week, Wiethoff mentioned that there would be an official announcement before Friday.

Initially launched for PS4 and Xbox One in 2018, followed by a PC release in 2019, the game “Red Dead Redemption 2” has been an unprecedented hit. As of this May, Rockstar Games announced that over 74 million copies of the game have been sold worldwide. Moreover, the success of “Red Dead Redemption 2” significantly contributed to the total sales of the “Red Dead” series surpassing 100 million copies.

There’s been buzz for a while that Red Dead Redemption 2 might be improved for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S hardware due to recent speculation. A report from this month hints that an announcement about the game running on Switch 2, along with enhanced versions for contemporary consoles, could happen soon.

Although specifics about the ports remain undisclosed at this time, whispers suggest that Rockstar Games could be aiming for a release window between September and October for the updated editions of the game.

Right now, console versions of “Red Dead Redemption 2” are highly praised, given their performance considering the hardware they operate on. However, when it comes to graphical quality, gameplay features, and overall player customization, the PC version is widely regarded as the optimal release of this game.
