Eric Dane Seemingly Debuts New Romance on Red Carpet

Eric Dane is getting McSteamy once again.

A former star of “Grey’s Anatomy” seemed to unveil a fresh romance with filmmaker Janell Shirtcliff at the premiere of Amazon’s “Countdown” held in Los Angeles on June 18th.

Dan, who announced his ALS diagnosis in April, walked the red carpet holding hands with Shirtcliff. For their first public appearance together, Shirtcliff wore a striking red pinstripe suitdress.

Back in April, Dan revealed he had ALS. Recently, at a public event, he was seen hand-in-hand with Shirtcliff. Shirtcliff chose an eye-catching red pinstripe blazer dress for the occasion, marking their first joint appearance.

The photographer, known for capturing iconic images of Dua Lipa, Jenna Ortega, and Kate Hudson, added a green handbag and aviator sunglasses to her outfit, maintaining a relaxed yet stylish vibe during summertime. Meanwhile, he opted for a laid-back ensemble consisting of beige trousers paired with a t-shirt and white sweater.

At one point on the carpet, the couple shared a laugh while looking into each other’s eyes.

Before his subsequent relationship with Shirtcliff, Dane was married to Rebecca Gayheart from 2004. However, she filed for divorce in 2018. Interestingly, Gayheart, who has two children, Billie (aged 15) and Georgia (aged 13), with the actor, withdrew her divorce petition in March 2025, and Dane agreed to remain legally married.

According to Gayheart, speaking with TopMob News on April 9th, we’re not just friends, but best friends. We’re incredibly close. As parents, we work really well together, and I believe our children are thriving because of this dynamic family formula we’ve discovered. It seems that we’re both gaining from it too.

The former star of “Beverly Hills, 90210” added, “I believe it’s significant not to view a relationship that concludes as a failure. Instead, consider it as a phase. It wasn’t a failure; it was an enormous triumph. We were married for, in essence, we are still legally wed, but we were together for 15 years and had two lovely children, so I think that makes our relationship a success. And that’s how we perceive it.

On the next day, Dan announced his ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis) diagnosis to the public, a condition that is more commonly referred to as Lou Gehrig’s Disease.

He informed People magazine that he had been diagnosed with ALS. “I’m thankful to have my caring family with me as we move forward into this new phase of our lives,” he added.

Over the past few months, he has been open about his development, emphasizing that he intends to stay active in Hollywood to maintain his skills.

He shared with TopMob recently that he feels fantastic while on the job. There have been challenges along the way, but overall, he’s in a positive mood. His spirits tend to stay high, so as long as he ends his day feeling good, that’s what truly counts.

Still, he has been candid on some of the struggles he’s faced amid his health battle. 

In a recent interview on Good Morning America, he shared that his left side is working fine, but his right side has completely stopped functioning. He fears that within the next couple of months, he may also lose the use of his left hand. This realization is quite humbling for him.

The 52-year-old mentioned that he began feeling a certain weakness in his right hand. At first, he didn’t give it much thought, attributing it to excessive texting or hand tiredness. However, as time passed and a few weeks went by, he noticed the condition had worsened slightly.

Eric Dane and Rebecca Gayheart haven’t disclosed the details about how their paths initially crossed. However, Dane playfully mentioned that it’s likely a rather unexciting tale.

He shared with Flaunt magazine in 2008 that it unfolded something like this: “Were you thinking about going out?” He responded affirmatively. “Absolutely,” was his answer. And ten months down the line, we found ourselves married.

Less than one year after they began dating, the couple exchanged vows in Las Vegas. 

Following Dan’s announcement that he was departing from the TNT series “The Last Ship” because of his struggle with depression, Gayheart used Instagram to express her backing and solidarity for her spouse.

“Way back when I met my Monday man crush,” Gayheart captioned a throwback photo of the couple. 

In her divorce filing, Gayheart attributed the breakup to irreconcilable differences and requested shared legal and physical custody, as well as spousal support, for their daughters Billie and Georgia.

14 years into their union, they concluded that parting ways was the wisest choice for their family’s wellbeing. They shared this decision with TopMob News, expressing that despite ending their marriage, they will maintain their friendship and collaborate closely to nurture their two lovely daughters, whom they deeply cherish.

Despite not officially finalizing their divorce, Dane stated that he and his ex remained friends and effective co-parents. He expressed this sentiment to Entertainment Tonight in 2019, saying, “We have two children together. It’s straightforward…it doesn’t need to be complicated.

Over a decade has passed since the world couldn’t get enough of the sensational news involving a leaked nude video starring none other than the radiant ex-Miss Teen USA, Kari Ann Peniche. Initially, speculations about their reunion emerged when they traveled together as a quartet to Europe. The renowned actress from “Jawbreaker” posted pictures from the journey, which depicted Dane playfully making a funny face for the camera alongside their daughters.
