Two Coronation Street stars sign new contracts to extend time on soap amid changes

As a devoted fan of Coronation Street, I can’t help but notice the recent shake-ups. It’s been quite a turnover with several familiar faces bidding adieu to ITV’s beloved soap over the past couple of months – Daisy Midgeley (Charlotte Jordan) and Eileen Grimshaw (Sue Cleaver) among them.

As a devoted cinema-goer, I can’t help but share the latest updates from my favorite soap opera. This summer and beyond, several beloved characters are set to bid adieu to the cobbles. Rumors have it that Aadi Alahan (Adam Hussain), Billy Mayhew (Daniel Brocklebank), and Debbie Webster (Sue Devaney) will be among those departing.

Despite the numerous changes happening, it has come to light that some key actors from the series have decided to prolong their tenure – as Jodie Prenger and Sam Robertson have agreed to stay on in the soap for more time.

In 2022, Prenger took on the role of barmaid Glenda Shuttleworth at Corrie. She recently shared with Bella magazine that she has extended her contract for another year.

She shared with the media outlet, “I’ll be spending another year with them! I couldn’t be happier. I adore that place so much. Whenever I’d chat with my agent, I’d inquire about joining Corrie.

Since 2016, Adam Barlow actor Robertson has been a regular character on the cobbles, having also spent three years on the show from 2004 to 2007. However, he hasn’t appeared in the series since March.

However, contrary to some concerns, the recent report in The Sun indicates that Robertson’s temporary absence doesn’t imply a long-term departure. Instead, he has signed a new agreement that extends his contract up until November 2026.
