At present, filming for season 15 of Call the Midwife is underway, and today, fans of this beloved period drama were given an exclusive sneak peek behind the scenes, hinting at the comeback of a fan-favorite young actor.
As a devoted cinephile, I’m excitedly sharing that today’s the big day for Teddy Berriman, our beloved Andrew Trottwood from the series, as he steps onto set for what promises to be a sweltering filming experience! Accompanied by his radiant mom Nicola, he flashes a charming smile and enthusiastic wave, ready to bring the storyline to life.
This young actor has had an outstanding month following his recent win as Young Influencer of the Year at the Council Youth Awards in Bishop Auckland. This achievement was even highlighted on the Call the Midwife Instagram page back in June.
In the latest season, a young character named Berriman made an appearance, having come down with measles. He quickly won over numerous viewers’ affections, and speculation about his comeback for the next season was sparked by a social media post announcing his award win.
On behalf of everyone involved, let me express our heartfelt thanks to you, Teddy, for the exceptional job you’ve done! This is what the show’s official page had to say.
Here at Call the Midwife, there isn’t a single person with dry eyes. Exciting news! You’ll have the chance to see our beloved character Teddy once more in Call the Midwife, adorning his Cub Scout uniform with great pride!
In recent days, Call the Midwife enthusiasts have plenty to look forward to. Apart from shooting scenes for the new season and a two-part Christmas special, it has also come to light that not only is a prequel series being developed but also a movie!

It was confirmed last month that the upcoming prequel series takes place in Poplar during World War II, and it’s expected to air on our screens around next year.
Regarding the movie, it’s at the stage of being developed, and it plans to take place abroad during the year 1972. It will showcase famous characters from the established series.
Both projects are being handled by Heidi Thomas, the original series creator herself. In a previous statement, she expressed her feelings as follows: “Opening fresh chapters at Nonnatus House seems emotionally significant and yet fitting.
As a passionate cinephile, I’ve always had an endless supply of tales for our midwives that resonate deeply. And let me assure you, that well will never run dry. From 1957 to 1971, I’ve felt every emotion imaginable – tears, laughter, and fury. Yet, as I journeyed through time, a longing grew within me to explore the depths of history even further.
