It appears that Marvel Studios is halting production of their Disney+ documentary series titled “Assembled”. Based on reports from TVLine, it’s been stated that there are no further plans to produce more episodes in this series, which offers a look at the creation process behind the shows and movies within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The first episode, “Marvel Studios’ Assembled: The Making of WandaVision“, debuted on Disney+ in 2021, with “The Making of Agatha All Along“, released in November 2024, being the last one produced so far.
In a recent update from Matt Webb Mitovich’s exclusive news on TVLine, he was inquired about whether upcoming Marvel films such as “Captain America: Brave New World” (February) and “Thunderbolts” (May) will be adapted into episodes of “Assembled”. According to Mitovich, it seems there are currently no new installments of the Disney+ series in production.

Last month, Aldous Huxley’s “Brave New World” premiered on Disney+, skipping the usual behind-the-scenes episode known as “Assembled.” Similarly, Marvel Animation’s “Spider-Man: Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man” and Marvel TV’s “Daredevil: Born Again” aired without their customary making-of specials.
From 2021 to 2024, Marvel Studios’ docu-series “Assembled” produced a total of 22 episodes. These episodes followed the production process of various Disney+ series like “Falcon and the Winter Soldier,” “Loki,” “Hawkeye,” “Moon Knight,” and “She-Hulk,” as well as MCU movies such as “Black Widow,” “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,” “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3,” and the upcoming “Deadpool & Wolverine.” Unfortunately, it appears that there will be no documentary series for “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” due to its reported cancellation, which is set to release in theaters on July 25.
Previously, Disney+ decided not to air another spin-off series called Marvel Studios’ Legends. This series consisted of short clips that recapped the events and summarized character backgrounds from the Marvel Cinematic Universe in easily digestible episodes. All over 40 episodes of this series were made available on YouTube instead. The latest installment, Marvel Studios’ Legends: Ironheart, which was produced after 2023, bypassed Disney+ and went directly to YouTube, even though the Ironheart series is exclusive to Disney+.
Disney’s major brands like Marvel and Star Wars are implementing a corporate strategy that involves decreasing the frequency of product releases. This strategy focuses on reducing the quantity of new content produced.
As a cinephile reflecting on the recent developments, I can’t help but acknowledge the enthusiasm we’ve shown in saturating our streaming service with an abundance of content. To achieve this, we tapped into every creative resource at our disposal, including Marvel Studios, churning out even more productions. However, in hindsight, it has become evident that the sheer volume does not automatically equate to quality. In fact, we’ve collectively acknowledged that our pursuit of too much content may have diluted our focus a bit.
In our opinion, if Marvel concentrates more on their movies by streamlining their production, it should lead to improved film quality.”
Here’s another way:
“We think that if Marvel simplifies their approach and puts more effort into their films, this could result in higher-quality productions.
After “Spider-Man: Your Friendly Neighborhood” and “Daredevil: Born Again”, Marvel’s TV schedule boasts titles like “Ironheart” (June 24), “Eyes of Wakanda” (animated, Aug. 6), “Marvel Zombies” (Oct. 3), and “Wonder Man” (December 2025). “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” will be the third Marvel Studios film of the year to hit theaters on July 25, wrapping up their movie releases for 2023.
