M3GAN 2.0 Director Refuses to Make Sequel a Meme, But Fans Will Still Be Shocked

When the initial M3GAN movie hit theaters, it became widely recognized due to an unforgettable dance routine executed by its leading AI-controlled doll, which later gained viral status.

Due to its captivating dance scenes and numerous unforgettable instances, M3GAN garnered favor among the horror community, earning the title of Best Villain at the 2023 MTV Movie & TV Awards.

Now, the killer robot is back with a bang in sequel 2.0 – bigger, bolder and just as bloodthirsty.

Based on the popularity and impact of the first film on ticket sales, one could assume that Director Gerard Johnstone might consider capitalizing on the hype surrounding the character.

He clarified that creating a movie as widely meme-worthy as it turned out wasn’t something I had planned initially, looking back at the original release.

In the process of making this movie, I deliberately included small moments of delight for viewers to enjoy, not to capitalize on viral trends like TikTok, as it feels overly calculative and contradicts the essence of creative expression in my opinion.

Although no efforts were made to manufacture clips for TikTok, it’s clear that certain scenes will certainly spark conversations among viewers as they exit the theater.

Allison Williams and Violet McGraw, the stars portraying the inventor of M3GAN and her niece in the movie, hinted at some sequences that might cause a stir, without revealing specific details about them.

“Yeah, that was fun,” McGraw responded. “Really, just every day was fun.”

“I love the non-spoiler answer: every day was fun. It’s perfect. Print that,” Williams laughed.

As for what that stunt is? Viewers will have to wait until the film hits cinemas to find out.
