In her upcoming exploits, Kamala Khan, also known as Ms. Marvel, is set to reveal her latent mutant abilities. A newcomer to the X-Men, Ms. Marvel was initially identified as an Inhuman when her powers emerged. However, it was the X-Men who later discovered that she possesses mutant genes as well. Ever since this revelation, Ms. Marvel has been working alongside the X-Men in their mission to create a world where both humans and mutants can thrive harmoniously. Currently, Ms. Marvel is experiencing the true essence of being an X-Man as she is thrust into a series of time-traveling escapades in a sequence of special issues titled Giant-Size. The latest installment transports readers back to the epoch of the Age of Apocalypse.
As a devoted cinephile and comic book enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that I’ve been granted an exclusive sneak peek at Giant-Size Age of Apocalypse #1, penned by Jackson Lanzing, Collin Kelly, and illustrated by the talented duo C.F. Villa and Rafael Loureiro, with colors by Edgar Delgado and lettering by VC’s Clayton Cowles. This epic tale unfolds in the aftermath of Giant-Size X-Men #1, where our beloved Ms. Marvel found herself yanked into the time stream by none other than Legion, who is on a mission to eradicate the future of mutantkind. After unleashing her powers and being whisked away, she lands in the Age of Apocalypse. Here, I find myself engaged in conversation with Rogue, one of the X-Men’s valiant leaders.
In simpler terms, Ms. Marvel shares with Rogue her revelation about being a mutant and how it dramatically changed her life. To make matters even more challenging, both Ms. Marvel and Legion find themselves in the Age of Apocalypse timeline just before its impending destruction. Ms. Marvel yearns to return home, and she confides that she sometimes wishes she wasn’t a mutant at all.

As a film enthusiast, I find myself rubbing my temples in disbelief, encountering my second time-traveler this week – none other than the remarkable Ms. Marvel. The first was Bishop, who leapt from the future during the epic Age of Apocalypse event way back in 1995. Tomorrow, our X-Men are gearing up for a war against Apocalypse, using the M’Kraan Crystal to reshape our world or perish trying. But first, I can’t help but ask Ms. Marvel to demonstrate her mutant power. Unfortunately, she’s yet to master it fully. Nevertheless, having dealt with my fair share of powerful abilities, I insist on seeing it before the credits roll.
In addition to the main storyline in issue #1 of “Giant-Size Age of Apocalypse,” there’s also a supplementary tale titled “Revelations” penned by Jeph Loeb and Simone Di Meo. This backup story serves as a prelude to their six-part event series, X-Men of Apocalypse, which is being published to mark the 30th anniversary of the original series.
The synopsis for Giant-Size Age of Apocalypse #1 states: “The fate of the future hangs in balance. After overcoming Legion, Kamala Khan now finds herself trapped in the bleakest timeline of all – the Age of Apocalypse. With its demise imminent, Kamala must locate any remaining X-Men to avoid being consumed by nuclear flames. As former adversaries unite to navigate a desolate landscape of ashes and shattered vows, trust becomes a scarce commodity. Can Legion be relied upon? And how far will Rogue go in instilling the essence of mutant identity within Kamala? Return to the Age of Apocalypse – a place where no one emerges unscathed! Additionally, Jeph Loeb and Simone Di Meo collaborate on a Revelations supplementary tale that uncovers a chilling secret about the Age of Apocalypse, a revelation with significant implications for the future. This is the third of five standalone giant-size issues!
