The popular historical drama “Harlots,” produced by ITV and starring Lesley Manville and Samantha Morton, is about to be available on Netflix, providing an opportunity for its fan base to grow even further.
In the heart of 18th-century London, I find myself immersed in a gripping tale that unfolds the intense rivalry between two brothel owners – the ambitious upstart Margaret Wells (Morton) and the formidable Lydia Quigley (Manville), a seasoned madam. The narrative also delves into the lives of their staff members, offering a captivating glimpse into this intriguing world.
The series initially debuted on the short-lived channel ITV Encore, where Manville once referred to it as being somewhat “concealed” in the programming schedule. She attributes this placement as a potential reason for its early termination after only three seasons.
2020 saw the BBC revitalize the show, airing previously produced episodes during prime time hours, due to a gap in their programming schedule caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Initially, Manville expressed optimism that the renewed attention might spark a fourth season of Harlots, unfortunately, this did not come to fruition.

Beginning next summer, fans can look forward to revisiting the show as Netflix has obtained the streaming privileges for every episode. These will become accessible on their platform starting from July 1st, 2025.
Following the successful transition of shows like Brassic and Gangs of London from Sky to Netflix, Harlots fans eagerly await to determine if the recent release has any impact on potential future seasons for the show.
Earlier, co-actress Morton voiced her discontent when she believed that ITV didn’t adequately back the series “Harlots” during its initial airing on the defunct Encore network.
The program managed to draw a substantial audience, even gaining the attention of notable figures like American actress Niecy Nash. Later on, she collaborated with Manville in Ryan Murphy’s production titled Grotesquerie.
