The development of the Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl’s modding SDK, found in the late stages, is nearly complete according to its Q2 2025 roadmap. In addition to the anticipated mutant loot, two additional weapons, and performance enhancements, GSC Game World has revealed that new features will be added to the game, along with the previously announced improvements.
Stalker 2 Update 1.5 brings bonus improvements
During an interaction with enthusiasts, GSC Game World unveiled fresh additions that will be incorporated into Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl. Alongside anticipated features, the team is introducing enhanced reloading mechanics for a more authentic combat experience, as well as upgraded ammunition aspects and other improvements.
Primarily, the studio is incorporating a partial reload function, similar to what’s found in games like Insurgency Sandstorm and others. This feature enables players to intermittently reload their weapons, giving them the ability to switch guns during the reloading process, for instance, switching from a shotgun mid-reload to another weapon and filling it only halfway.
Currently, changing weapons during a game requires starting the entire reloading process anew upon returning to the original weapon, which can disrupt the pace of firefights. However, this change aims to enhance the smoothness of combat encounters. This update not only boosts the game’s realism in terms of survival mechanics but also heightens the excitement of skirmishes by making weapon swaps more dynamic.
“In the next 1.5 patch we are adding reload renewal feature for all of the weapons.” GSC told fans.
Furthermore, it was verified by the development team that they are focusing on enhancing the game’s balance specifically for dedicated “stalkers” in the near future. This includes adjustments to both machine gun and sniper rifle ammunition as part of the forthcoming update.
Updates coming to version 1.5 will encompass enhancements like improved performance, particularly around stashes and other difficult objects, addition of an auto-detect button to graphics settings, resolutions for ultrawide screen aspects, and debut of the game’s modding Software Development Kit (SDK).
GSC announced that the initial phase of the Zone Kit will debut alongside Update 1.5. We’re committed to working closely with both Mod Makers and Players to enhance this tool, regularly introducing new features through updates.
Global Studio Chicago (GSC) is not only focusing on Stalker 2’s main game, but they’re also planning new expansions for it, which will bring unique, never-before-seen views of the Zone. It’s clear that GSC still has plenty of ideas for enhancing and refining this open-world survival title.
