Over the last several years, musical biopics have been a hit – titles like “Amy,” “Marley,” and “Blonde on Blonde” featuring Amy Winehouse, Bob Marley, and Bob Dylan respectively. Recently, we’ve caught a glimpse of another one in the pipeline – the trailer for “Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere.
20th Century Studios’ documentary “Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere” explores the creation process behind Bruce Springsteen’s 1982 album “Nebraska”. As a budding artist on the brink of worldwide fame, Springsteen grappled with reconciling the weight of success against the specters of his past. This groundbreaking album was recorded using a 4-track recorder in Springsteen’s bedroom in New Jersey. It stands as a significant moment in his life and is regarded as one of his most lasting works—a stark, eerie acoustic piece filled with wandering souls yearning for reasons to hold onto hope.
Screenwriter and director Scott Cooper, from the novel “Deliver Me from Nowhere” by Warren Zanes, shares, “Creating ‘Springsteen’ was profoundly impactful as it granted me access into the heart of an artist I’ve long respected – a chance to observe, intimately, the vulnerability and power that drive his music. This experience felt like a passage through recollections, legends, and reality. Above all, it was an honor to convey that unfiltered emotional sincerity onto the screen, and this process transformed me. I am eternally grateful to Bruce Springsteen and Jon Landau for permitting me to narrate their tale.
In this movie I’m discussing, I play the role of ‘The Boss,’ a character based on the book “Deliver Me from Nowhere” by Warren Zanes, which was adapted for the screen by Scott Cooper. This film is titled “Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere.” Alongside me as Springsteen’s long-time confidant and manager, we have Jeremy Strong portraying Jon Landau; Paul Walter Hauser takes on the role of guitar tech Mike Batlan; Stephen Graham plays my father, Doug; Odessa Young is cast as love interest, Faye; Gaby Hoffman brings Adele, my mom, to life; Marc Maron steps into the shoes of Chuck Plotkin; and David Krumholtz portrays Al Teller, a Columbia executive.
The film arrives in cinemas on 14th October 2025.
