During the late 1990s and early 2000s, gaming consoles, handheld devices, and their accompanying accessories were predominantly made from colorful, see-through plastic. Many people look back on those days fondly, with memories of vibrant shades such as purple and green, like the original Xbox, and express regret over how monotonous and gray modern technology has become.
Over the past several years, there has been a surge of technology that is more open and transparent. Companies are adopting a retro style with vintage designs and innovative concepts, such as the Barebones One Xbox Edition mobile controller we recently reviewed, which represents a fresh approach.
I’m fully supportive of the resurgence of this trend, and one of the major players in the gaming world, Razer, is jumping on board to revive transparent technology. Indeed, they have unveiled a new color option, adding translucent green to their existing black, pink, and silver/white designs, which will now grace some of their most sought-after accessories.
I’ve had a chance to thoroughly explore the Razer Phantom Green Lineup, and let me tell you why it’s much more than just a cosmetic upgrade.
I’ve tried everything in the Razer Phantom Green Collection, and here’s what sets it apart from other similar products.
What is the Razer Phantom Green Collection?

Razer items typically feature a sleek matte black design, but they also offer items and accessories in “Mercury” silver and “Quartz” pink, which some might find indistinguishable from their “White” designs. However, Razer claims these white models are unique. Now, there’s an additional choice for a few products: another color option to consider.
Instead of being black-and-green like “Phantom Green,” it is green-and-black, but there’s more to it. Razer put significant effort into designing four of their accessories, meticulously considering how to make them see-through in an appealing and tasteful manner.
Through multiple adjustments of internal elements, a variety of material and texture selections, numerous revisions passing through different hues and styles, everything culminated in the creation of the Phantom Green Series.

Initially, you can purchase the Razer Basilisk V3 Pro 35K Phantom Green Edition for $169.99 directly from Razer, which is a $10 increase compared to the black and white versions we’ve previously reviewed – the Razer Basilisk V3 Pro wireless gaming mouse.
Up next is the Razer Firefly V2 Pro Phantom Green Edition, priced at $109.99 on Razer’s site. This is a $10 increase from my previous review of the Razer Firefly V2 Pro mouse pad.
After that, you have the opportunity to purchase the Razer BlackWidow V4 75% Phantom Green Edition for just $199.99 directly from Razer. Interestingly, this price is identical to both the black and white versions of the keyboard. In our review, we looked at the wired gaming keyboard, the Razer BlackWidow V4 75%.
Lastly, we have the Razer Barracuda X Chroma Phantom Green Edition, priced at $139.99 on Razer’s site. This model is $10 more expensive than its black and white counterparts due to the color variation. I had the opportunity to evaluate the Razer Barracuda X Chroma wireless gaming headset, which offers vibrant color customization.
As a tech enthusiast, I’ve noticed an interesting twist in the latest Phantom Green product line – while they may look different from their traditional counterparts, they function exactly the same underneath. The tweaks are purely aesthetic, adding a fresh, vibrant touch to my tech collection!
A gaming mouse and its best friend, a mousepad

Among all the gaming mice I’ve tested throughout the years, the Razer Basilisk V3 Pro (now also known as 35K) remains my top pick. Anticipation ran high when I got to explore this Phantom Green item, and it certainly did not disappoint me.
Initially, what caught my attention was how delicate the Phantom Green transparency appeared. This isn’t surprising, given that Razer aimed to streamline the internal components for a sleeker look with this transparent design. However, there are limits to what Razer can alter without potentially affecting the product’s quality, features, and performance.
Instead, let me say that in my opinion, the Basilisk V3 Pro looks fantastic with its new translucent green color. The Razer Chroma RGB illumination shines through the plastic, creating an enhanced and more striking light show throughout the mouse as compared to the regular version.
The transparent top housing of the Razer Firefly V2 Pro, my preferred mousepad, adds a subtle touch and complements well with the accompanying mouse.
A keyboard you can see right through

Whenever I don’t have any new items to evaluate, I often find myself gravitating back to the Razer BlackWidow V4 Pro 60%, a keyboard I’ve previously reviewed. As a result, I was already acquainted with the fundamental structure that underpins the latest non-Pro Phantom Green Edition model.
As a researcher, I find myself captivated by the striking aesthetics of my BlackWidow V4 75%. The translucency of almost every component sets it apart, but it’s the keys that truly stand out. This feature allows the vibrant per-key Chroma RGB lighting to illuminate with greater intensity, adding an extra layer of dynamic appeal.
It seems that Razer has taken special attention to both the aesthetic and tactile qualities of those keycaps, aiming for a harmonious semi-transparent style without sacrificing functionality or longevity. I can personally vouch that the typing and gaming experience is exceptional with the Phantom Green Edition.
I’ve just assembled my personalized Razer BlackWidow V4 75%, using the latest Barebones base as a foundation. This experience showcases the freedom to modify the Phantom Green Edition according to your preferences. Despite being highly customizable, this keyboard offers endless possibilities for creating unique and unusual designs.
A headset to make your friends green with envy

Among the options presented, it’s the one I couldn’t wholeheartedly recommend without reservation. However, this doesn’t mean the Barracuda X Chroma wireless gaming headset is inferior or poor in quality.
This product is ideal for individuals seeking a harmonious balance between gaming headphones for their home PC setup and portable options for music or podcast enjoyment on mobile devices. It’s particularly appealing to those who place a high emphasis on aesthetic appeal.
With the Phantom Green Edition, the Barracuda X Chroma stands out even more, featuring dynamic RGB lighting that can be easily adjusted on the go. The transparency is less overt in this densely built headset, but rest assured, it will surely grab attention.
It’s pleasing to note that this time around, Razer hasn’t dipped into their budget, mainstream products to create a limited edition collection. Instead, they’ve crafted top-notch accessories for every setup, making them truly exceptional additions.
Now I just need Razer to do a Phantom Purple Collection.
