EastEnders is set for a scheduling shake-up this summer as the BBC prepares to host Wimbledon.
Since 1937, the timeless tennis competition hosted by the All England Lawn Tennis Club has consistently been a key part of the broadcasters’ summer lineup.
2021 won’t be any exception, as BBC will offer comprehensive broadcasts about everything related to SW19 from June 30th to July 14th. This period might bring adjustments to their regular programming schedule.
The regular 7:30 pm timeslot for EastEnders on BBC One will be taken over by the Wimbledon evening sessions for the next fortnight.
The soap is being shifted to air on BBC Two, and it will only be shown on Mondays and Tuesdays, starting from the week of June 30th.
Viewers can rest assured that they won’t be deprived of their daily dose of “EastEnders” action in Walford, as double episodes are scheduled to air during those days between 7 pm and 8 pm. This means fans will still receive a full week’s worth of excitement from the Square.

Over the course of those two days, we find Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) and Elaine Peacock (Harriet Thorpe) locking horns, whereas Ravi Gulati (Aaron Thiara) is scheming to expose someone.
It remains unclear if the broadcasting plan for EastEnders during the second week of Wimbledon, starting July 7th, has been finalized. Also uncertain is whether new episodes will continue to be available on BBC iPlayer at their regular 6am time slot.
This upcoming summer, with the BBC airing Euro 2025 as well, we might see further adjustments in the programming schedule over the next few weeks.
