Although no official announcements have been made and the production company for the animated series is still unknown, a fresh idea proposes that all previous versions of The Doctor could be featured in the upcoming spinoff (as suggested on Reddit). Given that the show is intended for preschoolers, numbering each incarnation of The Doctor – with Ncuti Gatwa’s Doctor being the Fifteenth – might help children learn to count. This rotating cast would also preserve variety, intrigue, and excitement for the new audience of “Doctor Who”.

Following the surprising exit of Ncuti Gatwa’s Fifteenth Doctor on the live-action series, an animated spin-off tailored for younger viewers might provide an excellent fresh start for the long-standing sci-fi saga. Although Gatwa’s departure was unexpected, Billie Piper’s potential inclusion – possibly as the Doctor – presents the opportunity to showcase around 18 different iterations of the character in the animated series. Naturally, some may need to be significantly altered or omitted, such as John Hurt’s War Doctor and William Hartnell’s First Doctor, which may not suit a young audience.
With Jodie Whittaker’s departure as the Thirteenth Doctor, the character of the Timeless Child opens up endless possibilities for future Doctors in the animated series. There is potential for Jo Martin’s Fugitive Doctor to gain more focus, while also delving deeper into the character’s unknown background. This spinoff, designed for a preschool audience and with minimal impact on the main show, could offer an exciting journey featuring potentially every Doctor. However, the release date of this spinoff has yet to be announced.
