Poll: Is Xbox heading in the right direction? Cast your vote here!

After a year of confusion and concern, Xbox seems to have forged its path forward.

Previously, Microsoft made a significant shift in gaming industry norms by announcing they would phase out console exclusives. This decision stirred memories of the Sega Dreamcast and Windows Phone, causing some to question Xbox’s future durability. However, looking at the present situation, things have taken a different turn.

Over the past few weeks, I’ve witnessed an array of hardware strategies unveiled by Microsoft. Asus has introduced the first OEM “Xbox,” which they’ve dubbed the Xbox Ally. Rumors indicate that Microsoft is also contemplating developing their own handheld Xbox in the future. Additionally, Microsoft has announced their next-gen Xbox strategy, ensuring full compatibility with your existing Xbox library. Furthermore, Microsoft is deepening its partnership with AMD to incorporate Xbox features into a wide range of devices, potentially cultivating an expansive Xbox “ecosystem” encompassing both first and third-party hardware.

It’s being whispered that Xbox might introduce Steam on its upcoming console, potentially flooding Xbox-centric households with PC exclusives, including those from PlayStation, for the first time. Additionally, there have been leaks this week hinting at Xbox VR development, with Microsoft working on an Xbox-branded Meta Quest in collaboration with Facebook.

So, I ask you, dear reader, are you excited about Xbox’s direction as of June 2025?

Absolutely, execution will be crucial for bringing all this to fruition. The PC version of the Xbox store has several technical and user experience shortcomings, but these issues are quickly being addressed. Introducing Steam on the next Xbox console might result in a situation where developers opt to bypass the “native” Xbox version and forego Xbox achievements, among other features. Additionally, there’s the question of cost. If the next Xbox is essentially a PC, with native Xbox compatibility, wouldn’t that make it rather expensive?

Typically, when we encounter fresh info, it tends to spark even more inquiries. Yet, there’s one major query that’s now been addressed: The longevity of Xbox hardware remains assured. It’s delightful to know this!

What say you? Vote in our poll, drop in the comments, and have a great weekend!
