Gwen Stacy has resurfaced in a more dangerous form than ever before. Her true identity was unveiled to a stunned Gwenpool, Spider-Man who was filled with horror, and Hawkeye who was left confused. She’s now working for someone known as the Great Architect, whose intentions seem to be causing not only troubles for Marvel’s superheroes but also potentially disrupting the very fabric of continuity. Gwen Stacy is leaving no one unscathed, and by the end of issue #2, she demonstrated her lethal abilities. However, this narrative is starting to get excessively meta, suggesting that someone may be targeting Gwenpool with a specific agenda in mind, and this issue provides several hints about their motives.
Someone Is Out to Take Down Gwenpool
Following the shocking unveiling at the close of the previous issue, an injured trio of heroes struggle against Gwen, with Spider-Man exclaiming in disbelief that this couldn’t be the true Gwen. Despite their injuries, her ability to effortlessly hold her own against them suggests that Gwen is a formidable adversary. Before any progress can be made in the battle, Hawkeye receives an urgent call for all Avengers to convene immediately due to New York City being thrown into chaos with citizens clashing and looting throughout the streets. The heroes must act swiftly to prevent further harm. In the ensuing confusion, Gwen manages to slip away, and Spider-Man vows to follow her trail while the others focus on protecting the civilians. Despite his own injuries, Spider-Man feels compelled to confirm for himself whether this is indeed Gwen, as well as uncover the reason behind his Spider-Sense sounding like a tornado alarm.

Gwenpool and Hawkeye leap into action to tackle the rioters, yet something is amiss. However, it’s then that Gwenpool arrives on the scene and confronts the killer over Peter. In response, Gwen ends up wounding Gwenpool in a manner reminiscent of Wolverine’s claws through the stomach. Gwen expresses regret, apologizing before fleeing. Eventually, Hawkeye locates Gwenpool and cradles her as she dies, lamenting that these sudden deaths are the ones that hurt the most. Of course, this isn’t the end of the story for our web-slinging hero.
Gwenpool Is Dead, But Not For Long
It’s undeniable that Gwenpool appears to be deceased, but let’s face it, no one truly believes she’ll stay that way for long. The fascinating aspect isn’t merely her death, but the individual who seems eager to see her gone and the reasons behind it. In the final issue, Gwenpool hinted at a shift in tone towards darkness within her comic, which suggests someone else is orchestrating events. The narrative is heavily self-referential, delving into the essence of comic book retcons and origin stories. The antagonists from the first issue foretold the arrival of the Great Retcon, and Gwenpool’s transformation into a combination of Gwen Stacy and Deadpool/Wolverine is exactly what comes to mind when people hear her name.
In this comic, the concept of modifying reality within comics is heavily explored, and the character wearing the red X mask seems determined to eliminate Gwenpool permanently. It’s plausible that this individual possesses the ability to manipulate reality, similar to Gwenpool, or could be another character who accidentally entered the comic world and inherited these powers. They might be attempting to eradicate Gwenpool to ensure no one challenges their plans, reshaping the Marvel Universe to suit their preferences.
