Doctor Doom hasn’t shown up in the Marvel Cinematic Universe yet, but it seems like our heroes won’t have much of a chance against him when he does. He appears to be aiming for control over multiple universes, and while he’s laying the groundwork in various realities, the New Avengers and Sam Wilson’s team are too preoccupied with disagreements about their future direction. As a result, they might need someone more seasoned to lead the charge: Thor. It’s been confirmed that Thor will appear in the upcoming film Avengers: Doomsday, along with his brother, Loki, who is currently keeping the multiverse together.
From the heart of an avid fan, it seems inevitable that these two Asgardian titans will rekindle their bond, bringing back the golden days once more. Yet, wisdom calls for turning this cinematic journey into a familial saga, as there’s a third brother lurking in the shadows of the MCU, unofficially introduced and ready to lend his strength in the battle against Doom.
Balder Nearly Had a Major Role in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness
In my cinematic journey, I delve into the multidimensional realm for the second time as Doctor Strange, joining forces with America Chavez to prevent Scarlet Witch’s potential destruction caused by the Darkhold. Along our travels, we encounter an alternate version of the Illuminati, spearheaded by Charles Xavier, whose members include Captain Marvel, Mister Fantastic, Captain Carter, Black Bolt, and Baron Mordo. This extraordinary assemblage reprimands me for perceived threats to the multiverse. Thankfully, I managed to avoid a stern lecture from another character, Balder the Brave, who was set to be portrayed by Daniel Craig in an alternate reality.
In the film “Multiverse of Madness,” Balder was unexpectedly excluded, leaving unclear his role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). However, during Season 2 of “Loki”, Loki encounters statues of Norse gods, feeling disheartened because he doesn’t see Balder among Thor and Odin. Loki doubts the significance of Balder, but Mobius corrects him, reminding Loki that everyone is aware of Balder the Brave. Although this conversation might be easy to overlook, it hints at a future for the character, one where he could join his brothers in the MCU’s impending epic battle.

Balder and Doctor Doom Aren’t Going to Get Along in the MCU
As a cinema enthusiast, it feels intriguing to delve into the book “Myths and Legends from Around the World,” which Erik Selvig peruses in the MCU, suggesting that Loki could be behind Balder’s demise. However, the complex emotions portrayed in “Loki” Season 2 present a contrasting narrative. It’s plausible that Balder might not relish the grandeur and ceremony associated with divinity, prompting him to venture into the Nine Realms to carve his unique destiny. This journey of self-discovery could have commenced before Loki and Thor graced the scene, with the brothers merely hearing tales about their brother through stories. After all, the siblings found themselves in a parallel predicament with Hela.
As a die-hard Marvel fan, I can’t help but feel a sense of anticipation at the impending arrival of Doom. With some of our beloved leaders like Tony Stark and Steve Rogers absent from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it seems that the stage is set for a grand reunion. In the comic books, Balder has proven himself more than capable of filling the void left by these great leaders. He’s no stranger to ruling Asgard’s throne and leading his people into battle when the situation demands it. Furthermore, his lightning-fast reflexes make him a formidable opponent, often striking before his enemies can even find their footing.
In the thrilling world of Marvel Cinematic Universe, as the limelight shifts towards the fresh wave of heroes, it’s only natural for me to yearn for a moment where Thor, Loki, and their forgotten sibling, Balder, share the screen once more. It’s not just about nostalgia; in the epic saga of ‘Doomsday’, I eagerly anticipate this reunion to have substance, transcending mere appearances. Balder could prove to be a game-changer in the face of Doom and whatever sinister plans the villain has hidden up his sleeve.
