Over the past weekend, Gearbox Software organized the Borderlands Fan Fest, and the most significant public revelation from this event was the release of a new trailer for Borderlands 4, which primarily focuses on setting up the game’s narrative.
On the planet Kairos, the Timekeeper and his forces hold supreme power, residing in an invincible metropolis called Dominion City. A catastrophic event named Elpis occurred near Kairos, causing massive damage. The Timekeeper secured the city while he himself stayed safe in a tower, sending his leaders, or Commanders, to manage the chaos on the ground. Now, they are working hard to keep order within the Timekeeper’s dominion.

Starting with simple origins, you’ll find yourself journeying through Kairos, aiming to spark a rebellion against the Timekeeper. A sense of unrest is growing throughout Kairos, and it seems that any moment now, this tension will erupt. Meet Claptrap, self-styled strategist of the Crimson Resistance, who’s eager to enlist the Vault Hunters into his cause.
We’ve had the opportunity to try out Borderlands 4 before its scheduled launch on September 12th, 2025 for PS5. After playing it, we were quite impressed by its looter shooter gameplay. Despite some critics, the Borderlands series has a wide appeal and Borderlands 4, based on our early experience, seems poised to continue this trend of first-person shooter (FPS) success.
