A David Walliams & Taika Waititi collab!

When I learned about the collaboration between Oscar-winning director Taika Waititi and prolific author David Walliams (with over 60 million books sold!), I couldn’t help but pay attention. After all, who wouldn’t be intrigued by this dynamic duo coming together to bring “Fing!” to life on the big screen?

In this story, the characters Mr. and Mrs. Meek, portrayed by Blake Harrison and Mia Wasikowska, are devoted parents to their daughter Myrtle, played by newcomer Iona Bell. While they go to great lengths to keep Myrtle content, she’s never fully satisfied, always craving MORE! One day, when Myrtle demands a Fing, her parents embark on a quest to find one, leading them deep into the heart of the jungle. However, as it turns out, Fing is just as destructive as Myrtle herself. As a result, Myrtle must face off against the ruthless animal park owner, The Viscount (Taika Waititi), who covets this elusive creature and will stop at nothing to own it.

This exceptional fantasy movie is being brought to life by an elite creative team, jointly penned by Walliams and Kevin Cecil (from Veep), with acclaimed director Jeffrey Walker (The Portable Door, The Artful Dodger) leading the charge. Filming has now begun at Screen Queensland Studios in Brisbane, Australia.

In addition, Penelope Wilton takes on the role of the Viscount’s Nursemaid, Richard Roxburgh portrays the Bank Director, and Robyn Nevin is cast as the Chief Librarian.

Or, for a more colloquial version:
Penelope Wilton steps into the shoes of the Viscount’s Nanny, Richard Roxburgh becomes the Bank Manager, and Robyn Nevin joins us as the Chief Librarian.

Walliams books are made for the big screen and this looks an ideal match of topic and talent
