For some time now, Sony has been making attempts to launch a “Horizon” adaptation, and while these efforts persist, the project is no longer following the path initially expected. Originally, a Netflix series based on “Horizon” was in development, but according to recent reports, it was scrapped last year. Now, however, there’s official news of a movie being planned instead.
At the CES 2025 event, Sony revealed that PlayStation Productions and Columbia Pictures have embarked on a movie adaptation of the critically-acclaimed 2017 open world action RPG, Horizon Zero Dawn. Few details about the project or its cast have been disclosed yet, with Sony merely stating that it’s currently in its initial stages of development.
In collaboration again, Horizon Zero Dawn will mark the second joint venture of PlayStation Productions and Columbia Pictures, having previously teamed up for the Uncharted movie production.
At CES 2025, Sony unveiled plans for an anime adaptation of “Ghost of Tsushima: Legends” and a movie based on “Helldivers”. Additionally, they revealed a new trailer for the second season of HBO’s “The Last of Us”.
