A Minecraft Movie continues to print money, and fans can now go to special screenings and be as loud as they please

The ongoing success of the Minecraft Movie remains impressive, as its recent box office numbers indicate it’s steadily approaching the record held by The Super Mario Bros. Movie.

According to Variety’s report, the film has earned a total of $816 million globally, with an impressive $60.5 million added in the past week. Notably, more than half of these earnings, approximately, come from markets outside the United States.

Although the $1.3 billion grossed by Mario (with Jack Black being part of it) remains quite some distance away, the Minecraft Movie is steadily approaching as the leading film this year, making it a challenging feat to surpass. Disney, undoubtedly, will attempt to do so.

A feature film based on Minecraft has yet to make its debut in cinemas, but it’s been quite a sensation online. Videos of boisterous antics centered around the Chicken Jockey scene have gone viral. To capitalize on this, Warner Bros. is planning special “Block Party Edition” screenings.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, starting from May 2, these new screenings will be held in North America and certain international locations. Audience members are invited to immerse themselves completely, make some noise, and sing along enthusiastically, showing their fervor like a devoted top-tier fan.

Maybe don’t take a live chicken in with you, though.

Although reactions to a potential Minecraft film were generally critical, skewing more towards disapproval, among fans, it has turned into quite a sensation.

At the moment, it has a viewer rating of 86% on Rotten Tomatoes, and I firmly believe it’s well worth watching.

As a devoted Minecraft enthusiast within my household, it’s not just my son who adores the game; I find myself humming Steve’s Lava Chicken tune more frequently than I’d care to admit! With such an iconic hit under their belt, it seems inevitable that a sequel is on the horizon.
