As a tech enthusiast with over two decades of gaming under my belt, I must say that the Revolution X Unlimited controller by Nacon piques my interest significantly. Having grown up with controllers that were more plastic than function, it’s heartening to see companies like Nacon pushing the boundaries of what a controller can be.

Through collaboration with the Designed for Xbox program, Nacon recently revealed a brand-new, officially certified wireless controller suitable for both Xbox and PC systems.

2024 at Gamescom, I had the pleasure of witnessing the debut of an exciting new addition to my gaming arsenal – the Revolution X Unlimited controller. This premium peripheral from Nacon has been making waves in the industry for over a decade, with its predecessors, Revolution X and Revolution Pro controllers, already leaving their mark.

Up until 2023, external controller manufacturers were only able to produce wired controllers for Xbox devices due to Microsoft’s exclusive technology for wireless controllers. As regulations against wireless accessories for Xbox have started to become less stringent, an increasing number of third-party companies are venturing into the development of wireless controllers specifically designed for Xbox.

“Nacon’s R&D team has put in an enormous amount of work to design a controller that will meet the expectations of the most demanding gamers,” said Yannick Allaert, Head of Accessories Division at Nacon. The Revolution X Unlimited controller is designed to be ideal for First-Person Shooter and Third-Person Shooter games, emphasizing features that offer precision and durability. This includes implementing Hall effect technology to reduce stick drift and trigger blockers for adaptability. Six programmable shortcut buttons, alternative directional pads, extra weights, stick heads, and stick rings further boost adaptability as the player can adjust the controller’s layout to suit their preferred play style.

We’re thrilled to unveil our flagship creation – the Revolution X Unlimited, a controller embodying the pinnacle of our knowledge. This groundbreaking device takes innovation to new heights, boasting an exceptional design coupled with outstanding performance.

From a fan’s perspective, what sets the Revolution X Unlimited apart from its predecessors is the addition of a central LCD screen right up front on the controller. This screen simplifies programming the Revolution X Unlimited controller and navigating the device’s functions for saving numerous game profiles. It also allows for audio source mixing, enabling players to fine-tune their chat, music, and gameplay audio levels for an optimal listening experience. To top it off, a single charge powers the controller for an impressive 10 hours.

As of now, we don’t have an exact release date for the Revolution X Unlimited. Nacon has hinted at a launch in Fall 2024, but nothing is confirmed yet. The cost of Revolution X Unlimited hasn’t been disclosed either, although the original Revolution X retailed for $99.99. Given its advanced features, it’s expected that the Revolution X Unlimited will carry a much higher price tag.
