A Spider-Man Costume From the MCU Makes Its Ultimate Universe Debut

As a seasoned gamer and comic book enthusiast who has witnessed the evolution of Spidey’s adventures since the days of Stan Lee and Steve Ditko, I must say that this latest twist in the Ultimate Universe is nothing short of exhilarating! The return of the Ultimate Universe and the reintroduction of the Iron Spider costume are reminiscent of the excitement we felt when Sam Raimi first graced our screens with his Spider-Man trilogy.

In the Marvel Cinema Universe, one of the much-loved costumes donned by Spider-Man has made a comeback in the Ultimate Universe. Fans of the MCU might not recall that this costume was inspired by Marvel’s Ultimate series of comics, as evident in Nick Fury’s portrayal by Samuel L. Jackson and Hawkeye’s costume design. The original Ultimate Universe ceased to exist in 2015 with Secret Wars, but Marvel is revisiting it once more through a linewide reboot. One of the initial titles in the new Ultimate Universe is Ultimate Spider-Man, and this fresh start for the web-slinger includes a revamped origin story, which incorporates an outfit reminiscent of those seen in the MCU.

Spider-Man’s Iron Spider costume explained

In the heat of Marvel’s epic “Civil War” saga, I found myself standing beside Iron Man when the world learned my true identity. As a token of appreciation, he crafted the extraordinary Iron Spider armor for yours truly. This suit dons a striking red-and-gold color scheme, similar to Iron Man’s own, and boasts spider-like armors that extend from its back. However, as events unfolded during the Civil War, I grew disenchanted with Iron Man, causing me to switch allegiances and leave the Iron Spider costume behind.

Later, the Iron Spider was utilized by the top trainee of Avengers: The Initiative, who were collectively known as the Scarlet Spiders after a name change. After MVP’s demise, various characters have donned the Iron Spider suit, and it frequently reappears for notable appearances at different points in time.

In the climax of “Spider-Man: Homecoming,” Iron Man offers Spider-Man the Iron Spider suit during a public event, mirroring events from the Civil War comic. Yet, Peter Parker declines the offer. Later, in “Avengers: Infinity War” and “Avengers: Endgame,” Spider-Man dons the Iron Spider armor as Earth’s Mightiest Heroes confront Thanos and his Black Order. The suit also appeared momentarily in “Spider-Man: Far From Home” and “Spider-Man: No Way Home.

In issue #9 of Ultimate Spider-Man, Spider-Man and Green Goblin engage in their initial battle against a member of the Sinister Six. Kingpin, also known as Wilson Fisk, has summoned the leaders of New York’s boroughs to eliminate both Spider-Man and Green Goblin. The Sinister Six consists of Mister Negative, Kraven the Hunter, Black Cat (Walter Hardy), Mysterio, Mole Man, and Kingpin himself. Unfortunately for Black Cat, her attempt to take down Spider-Man and Green Goblin doesn’t go as planned.

In this action-packed scenario, the enigmatic Black Cat manages to stand toe-to-toe with both Spider-Man and the Green Goblin, even disabling Harry Osborn’s Green Goblin armor. However, Harry swiftly reactivates his armor and jumps into the battle at a crucial moment, shielding Spider-Man from a lethal assault by Black Cat. A powerful energy blast from the Green Goblin propels Black Cat off the rooftop they were battling on, causing him to crash onto the pavement below. Emergency responders arrive to transport Black Cat for medical care, but his fate remains uncertain due to the severity of his injuries. What we can confirm is that Felicia Hardy, daughter of Walter Hardy, will step into her father’s shoes as the new Black Cat in a future confrontation with Spider-Man.

As Ultimate Spider-Man, the line between good and evil often blurs in our epic battles. However, I stick firm to my no-killing policy, a principle that sets me apart. The Green Goblin, on the other hand, doesn’t share my moral compass. Keeping an eye on him as our rivalry unfolds is crucial.
