The crossover between WWE and TNA has been filled with surprising instances, but nothing beats what transpired during tonight’s main event of NXT Battleground. After weeks of verbal duels, including a complete rap performance, it was Joe Hendry’s turn to safeguard his TNA World Championship against Trick Williams. The crowd wholeheartedly supported Hendry from the start. With an air of arrogance, Williams underestimated Hendry, but the TNA Champion demonstrated he was not someone to be trifled with. Later in the match, Williams resorted to various tactics, even managing to rake Hendry’s eyes and slam him onto his own Championship, which ultimately led to an astounding victory for Williams. Now, Trick Williams stands as your new TNA World Champion.
At the beginning of the game, Williams exhibited boastful behavior, yet Hendry retaliated with a sequence of powerful chops and a clothesline that hurled Williams towards the ground. To add further discomfort, Henry leaped over the ropes and slammed Williams to the floor. However, even after being subdued, Williams continued to taunt.
At one point in the middle of the ring, Williams managed to tackle Hendry. Afterward, he mimicked Hendry’s signature move by looking at the camera. This left Hendry furious, but Williams maintained control until he was forcefully pushed down by Hendry shortly after. Williams retaliated by slamming Hendry into the commentary desk and then executing a Trick Shot, but Hendry refused to stay defeated and managed to escape the pin.
In a bid to exploit the TNA World Championship, Williams attempted to strike Hendry, but the referee intercepted and took it from him. Almost immediately after, Hendry came close to pinning Williams, but Williams managed to kick out. This move, however, set up Hendry for a throw by the Champ. Regrettably, during his ascent, Williams retaliated against Hendry with an eye attack. As Hendry regained composure, Williams hoisted Hendry aloft and slammed him headfirst onto the Championship that belonged to him.
In a moment of confusion, Hendry managed to stand up again, but was knocked down once more by Trick Shot’s final move. The crowd gasped as Williams pinned Hendry and claimed the TNA World Championship title, marking a historic moment since Williams is also part of WWE NXT. This victory is expected to cause significant changes in both NXT and TNA, as Williams will become one of TNA’s main figures. However, it remains to be seen what this means for Hendry, but the NXT fans may not have seen the last of him yet.
