A$AP Rocky Found Not Guilty in Gun Assault Trial

The verdict is in for A$AP Rocky‘s shooting trial.

Three years ago, the rapper known as “ASAP Forever” was declared not responsible for two charges of assault involving a semiautomatic weapon, which stemmed from an altercation with his childhood friend and bandmate, Terell Ephron, more commonly recognized as A$AP Relli.

On November 6, 2021, during a heated argument on a Hollywood sidewalk, Ephron claimed that Rakim Mayers (also known as Rocky) had pulled out a gun and shot at him. He asserted that his hand was accidentally grazed by a bullet during the altercation.

On the contrary, Rocky’s legal team contended that the 36-year-old brandished a fake gun which could only discharge blanks. They claimed Ephron fabricated the account of getting hurt by a real firearm as a means to demand money from Rocky under false pretenses.

Rocky was arrested in 2022 in connection to the case, but was shortly released on $550,000 bail.

Prior to his three-week trial in the Los Angeles Superior Court, the rapper known as “LSD” – who maintains his innocence regarding the charges against him – was extended a plea bargain. However, he declined this offer, with his lawyer Joe Tacopina stating that his client feels no inclination towards it because he genuinely believes in his own innocence.

In my own words, I shared with ABC News back in January that the agreement included spending 180 days behind bars, being on probation for three years, and some additional minor requirements as part of a plea deal for an assault with a firearm charge.

In his court case, Rocky was backed by Rihanna, whom he has been in a relationship with since 2019. The “Umbrella” artist attended the courtroom multiple times during the trial, and brought their sons, RZA Athelston (age 2) and Riot Rose (age 17 months), to the closing arguments on February 13th.

Though Rihanna hasn’t made any public comments regarding A$AP Rocky’s case, it’s clear that they share a strong familial connection, as she often speaks openly about it.

She shared with TopMob News in April that every part of her life is given meaning by them, and she will consistently put Rocky and their children first. She emphasized that everything should be deliberate and valuable, especially if it keeps her away from them.

Eventually, I had to reveal the truth, and of course, they were as surprised as the rest of the world.
